Opposition Parties Call For Probe Into Free State Covid

9 professional knife techniques made easy!

Image:SABC News

Opposition parties have called for an investigation into the COVID-19 contracts awarded in the Free State. This comes after revelations that the sons of African National Congress Secretary-General, Ace Magashule, received COVID-19 contracts worth more than R2.7 million.

Both Motheko Projects and Marvel Deeds appear on the list of companies that secured contracts and Magashules sons are listed as directors.

The provincial finance department has confirmed that the two companies, Motheko Projects and Marvel Deeds, are among more than 440 companies that were awarded contracts in the province. The department has, however, denied allegations that the relationship between the MEC of Finance and Magashule played a role in the awarding of the contracts to his sons.

However, opposition parties are crying foul.

Economic Freedom Fighters Chairperson, Mandisa Makheseni, says it is not only Ace Magashules sons that have secured COVID-19 contracts in the province.

We expected this. Its not only the sons of Magashule, most of the children related to the leadership of the ANC , their family members, their wives they are part of the scandal of the PPEs in the province. Let everyone who is implicated be investigated and all of them they must face the full might of the law. We will assist the police, we will give them names of the companies of those who are still hiding that benefited from these PPEs, says Makheseni.

The Suspended Anc Secretary

Suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashules legal counsel has asked the state to provide a list of witnesses implicating his client in his corruption case.

Magashule and his co-accused appeared in the Bloemfontein high court on Tuesday. Their case was postponed to November 3 for pretrial and for them to respond to charges preferred against them.

Magashule faces 13 charges including fraud, corruption and money-laundering relating to a multimillion-rand tender awarded by the Free State government during his tenure as premier.

His legal counsel, Laurence Hodes SC, told the court his client had not received a list of witnesses the state intended to call.

In relation to accused 13 , we filed a section 85 notification contending there is a fundamental error to the charge and we oppose the charge, Hodes said.

Weve additionally asked which people implicate him. The state isnt prepared to commit themselves to which people. We believe there is an irregularity in the charge and we would like to pursue an objection to the charge in that regard, he said.

Prosecutor advocate Johan de Nysschen said he would peruse Magashules notice and argue the matter at some stage.

They will have to read the whole docket, he said.

Magashules Sons Have A Right To Earn A Living

Wusthof® EPICURE 4

JOHANNESBURG- Media reports claiming that ANC secretary General Ace Magashule might have played a role in the awarding of contracts to the value of R2.7m by the Free State Provincial Government to his sons, Tshepiso and Thato are an attempt to paint Magashule as corrupt and weaken him politically.

This is according to a senior Free State ANC provincial Executive Committee member who spoke on condition of anonymity. According to a Daily Maverick report, Magashules sons were awarded the contract after the provincial treasury decided to centralise Covid-19 supply procurement, to support local businesses.

The publication reported that the provincial treasury had awarded contracts with a combined value of R2.7 million to Motheko Projects and Marvel Deeds, owned by Tshepiso Magashule and Thato Magashule respectively.

The PEC member said mainstream media had made Magashule their special project because they feared him for his radical views and the massive support he commands among radical economic transformation forces within the ANC. This is the only reason white-owned media is targeting the SG, who they want to paint as unethical, corrupt and not worthy of occupying any political office. Should the SGs sons, who like every South African, have a right to earn a living be discriminated against solely because their father is the former premier of the Free State, asked the PEC member.

Ramaphosa Moet Kyk Na Kontrakte Vir Ace Se Seuns

Anc Turmoil As Magashule’s Sons Score Covid Contracts

Knives – Sharpening & Storage

As concern grows that governments procurement efforts in response to the coronavirus pandemic may have been captured by political elites in the ANC and their families, and the party is feuding with itself over the issue, a Scorpio investigation has revealed that two companies owned by the sons of former Free State Premier and current ANC secretary-general, Ace Magashule, have clinched Covid-19 contracts with a combined value of R2.7m.

Pieter-Louis Myburgh, in a report on the Daily Maverick site, notes that the Free States latest tender bulletin, published on 17 July, lists the names of around 70 businesses that received contracts for Covid-19-related goods and services, with a combined value of R173m.

The list includes the names of Motheko Projects and Marvel Deeds. Tshepiso Magashule, the ANC SGs eldest son, is Motheko Projects sole director, company records reveal.

Tshepisos younger brother, Thato, is listed as the sole director of Marvel Deeds.

According to the tender bulletin, Motheko Projects received a contract worth R2.29m from the provincial Treasury. Marvel Deeds contract is valued at R427 221.

Myburgh says it is not clear what goods or services the Magashule brothers companies were contracted to deliver, but the tender bulletin confirms that these deals relate to government authorities ongoing fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

See Ace Magashule’s Sons Thato And Tshepiso Luxurious R2 Million Car It’ll Melt Your Heart

Ace Magashule‘s son who allegedly received a Covid-19 tender from the Free State Provincial Government, apparently bought a BMW X7 of R2 million in August 2020.

However, no clear connection exists between the tenders to the Magashule brothers and the luxury BMW car.

The Magashule brothers claimed in response to inquiries that reports of the purchase of the BMW were malicious and an attempt to attack their father. They did not want to say where they got the money to buy such an expensive car.

Motheko Projects, with Tshepiso Magashule as sole director, won a tender to supply liquid soap and masks worth R2 290 000 to the Free State Government.

Marvel Deeds, with Thato Magashule as director, won a tender of R427 221 to provide hand sanitizers to the Free State Government.

According to reliable sources, they also have other business operations from which the luxury car could be funded.

The car was reportedly delivered to one of Magashule’s son’s in Bloemfontein in August. Armand Cloete, FF Plus MP of the National Council of Provinces – says that the FF Plus is very concerned about the future of South Africa, being that Ace Magashule is one of the most powerful members, if not the most powerful, in the ANC is.

Da Call For Ramaphosa To Stem Magashules Tender Influence

The DAs leader in the Free State, Roy Jankielsohn, said in a statement released on Monday 3 August that Magashules notorious influence in the province demands a closer inspection of the legality of the tender approval.

I have written a letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa requesting him to act regarding the allocation of COVID-19 tenders to the sons of ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule as part of his public commitment to act against malfeasance relating to COVID-19 contracts, he said.

While the Free State Provincial Government and Mr Magashule indicate that there is nothing wrong with the allocation of these contracts, the DA is of the opinion that Mr Magashule holds extensive influence over officials who allocate tenders in the Free State.

Tshepiso Magashule, who is the director of Motheko Projects, provided liquid soap and masks to the value of R2 290 000, while Marvel Deeds, whose director is Thato Magashule, provided hand sanitisers to the value of R427 221.

As former Free State Provincial Secretary and current Secretary-General of the ANC, Ace Magashule is in a position to exert extensive influence over the deployment and continued employment of any senior officials and politicians in an ANC-run province such as the Free State, he said.

Unity for common prosperity against poverty

In a small village of Mvezo, Qunu, near Umtata, a baby boy was born in 1918, 100 years ago. He was named Rolihlahla Mandela. If he was still alive, he would be turning 100 years old this year. Despite being born into a royal family, Nelson Mandela sacrificed his entire life for the liberation of our people against Apartheid colonialism of a special type.

Being from a royal family, he would have either been awarded a plush position by the Apartheid regime, or given leadership authority in one of the traditional areas. But instead, he became a political prisoner for over twenty seven years, fighting for the noble cause of the struggles for the total liberation of our people.

Factions Clash Over A Proposal For Kgalema Motlanthe To Probe Graft Allegations

Damaging claims of profiteering from Covid-19 contracts have split the ANC’s top brass along pre-Nasrec factions, as leaders squabbled at the party’s national executive committee meeting this weekend over how to deal with corruption allegations levelled against its leaders.

The standoff in the NEC on Friday was sparked by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s opening address, in which he is said to have warned the ANC executive that corruption has tarnished the party’s brand.

At the centre of a heated debate was a proposal by Enoch Godongwana, head of the NEC subcommittee on economic transformation, for a committee led by former president Kgalema Motlanthe, and including former president Thabo Mbeki, to investigate claims of corruption against party bigwigs.

The battle comes as more claims emerge of relatives and friends of ANC leaders benefiting from government contracts for personal protective equipment running into millions of rands.

Party activists went on social media on Friday to try to counter the wave of negative publicity engulfing the party, following revelations that more leaders’ relatives have had a bite of the PPE pie.

ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule’s eldest son Tshepiso’s Motheko Projects received a contract for R2.29m and Tshepiso’s brother Thato’s Marvel Deeds scored R427,221 from the Free State treasury, according to the Daily Maverick.

Ramaphosa jnr partnered with FNB in the R6m project. No state funds are involved in the project.

Ramaphosas Integrity On The Line Da

Ultimately, the DA want Ramaphosa to shut down the Secretary Generals ability to allocate COVID-19 tenders, and said that his influence has led to disturbing conflicts of interest on various occasions.

The above examples indicate that the latest allocation of lucrative government contracts to family members of Ace Magashule is not a once off occurrence, he said.

As former Premier of the Free State and current ANC Secretary-General, Magashule holds substantial influence over both politicians and senior government officials in the province.

He warned that should Ramaphsa not act against his ANC Top Six comrade, his reputation and integrity will suffer the consequences of yet another potential scandal.

The political integrity of President Ramaphosa will depend on his willingness to act against his most senior ANC party leader.
