A firm favorite for many due to its rich flavor and ease of cooking, it has long been available in steakhouses as one of their premium options, especially in New York, where its most used name is derived from: The New York Strip Steak.
Aldi Lidl And Morrisons Spark Supermarket Steak Price War With Prime Cuts From 4 Each

THREE supermarkets are going head to head over steak prices ahead of Father’s Day this weekend.
Lidl, Aldi and Morrisons are offering deals on their range of high-end beef products for the celebration, which is on Sunday, June 21.
Morrisons’ steak prices – which are the cheapest as they start from £4 – remain unchanged but they are offering two different steaks for £7.
Meanwhile, Aldi has launched an even larger version of its Big Daddy steak called “Bigger Daddy Steak”.
The new steak weighs in at 794g compared to the Big Daddy Steak at 454g.
The 454g steak is still on sale for £4.59, while the new 794g steak, which is an extra thick British rump steak, costs £7.99.
Lidl’s new Delmonico prime rib steak is less expensive at £6.99 but it weighs 454g – a total of 340g less.
Both the Delmonico steak and Aldi’s Bigger Daddy steak will hit shelves tomorrow .
The full range of steaks on offer at Morrisons include the single sirloin and rib eye steaks for £4 each and two flat iron steaks , two bavette steaks , two beef medallions and two Denver steaks for just £4 each.
The deal includes two of the special steaks listed above for £7 altogether. It is running online until January 24 next year.

Aside from the Delmonico steak, Lidl is selling a steak selection pack , which includes two fillet steaks, two sirloin steaks, two rump steaks and two ranch steaks, for £14.99.

How To Cook Strip Steak On A Grill Or Smoker
As with most good quality steaks, the easiest and quickest way to get your Strip steak fix is the high and dry method. A dried steak placed on a high heat grill for a few minutes each side until the desired doneness is achieved.

Where Does Strip Steak Come From On The Cow
It comes from the short loin sub-primal, which is part of the loin primal, the area of a steer that produces the prime steaks such as the Filet Mignon, the T-bone, the Porterhouse and the Strip.
The Strip is created once the Tenderloin and the backbone have been removed from the short loin.
Some butchers will leave the bone in with the Strip, but more often than not, the bone is removed. The sub primal its cut from is 16 to 18 inches long, and it will produce around a dozen steaks, depending on how generous the butcher is with their thickness.
The main muscle to make up the Strip is the Longissimus Dorsi, also the main muscle in a Rib-eye.
Depending on the skill of the butcher when cut, you may get some of the nearby muscles attached, the Multifidus Dorsi and the Gluteus Medius.
While the Multifidus is a welcome tender addition, the Gluteus Medius is a tough chewy extra that you can do without.

How To Prepare Strip Steak For Grilling Or Smoking
The Strip will more often than not come well-trimmed with no extra attention needed from yourself.
A mere pat with a paper towel and a good liberal seasoning with just salt is enough for the Strip.

Vacio Or Bavette Steak
One of the steaks you might not have heard of is the vacio steak, an extremely popular steak in Argentina . The vacio is a primal cut of the flank, but it’s actually quite different from a flank steak. In the cow, the vacio hangs beneath the loin and is bolstered by the cow’s belly, which encases the meat in layers of fat. When butchered, the vacio steak has an unusual diamond shape, weighs between four and five pounds, and can feed a good-size party of hungry Argentines . It’s always slow-grilled whole, then sliced, and the well-marbled meat is tender and very flavorful. The crispy belly fat is almost as cherished as the steak itself.

Usda Choice Strip Steak
Weve put a lot of Aldi red meats through the paces this year. Weve profiled the bacon-wrapped chuck filet, the top sirloin, and our personal favorite, the ribeye. In this post, we turn our attention to another component of the Aldi beef lineup: the strip steak.
The Aldi strip steak bears the same USDA Choice branding that some other Aldi steaks do. It comes in the same sealed packaging, and runs about $6 or so a pound close to the same price as the top sirloin. We think this is a pretty competitive price, but as we always say you would be wise to price-shop your local Aldi beef prices with other grocers.
Strip steaks are seen as desirable steaks because they are naturally fairly tender, but they dont flare up as much on the grill as fattier steaks like a ribeye. A ribeye is generally a more tender cut once cooked, but if youve got a grill prone to flare-ups, this is a no-nonsense steak for those meat-and-potatoes meals.
Unlike some of our previous steaks, we didnt cook this strictly as a steak dinner. Instead, we cooked it up for the purposes of fajitas using a recipe from Aldis site, in fact marinating the steak in a concoction of spices before tossing it onto the grill. Once cooked, we cut it up and combined it with an assortment of ingredients in a flour tortilla.
