To Cook Ribeye Steaks In The Oven Youll Need:
To cook ribeye steaks in the oven, you will need a couple of critical tools but if you enjoy cooking at home, you probably already have a lot of these anyways.
While we are using specific pans, youre likely to already have a heavy cast iron pan.

Finish Steaks In The Oven
Once both sides have been seared, insert the leave-in thermometer through the side of the steak, towards the middle. Move the skillet into the pre-heated oven.
Set the thermometer to the desired temperature. If you are not using a leave in thermometer, you will need to manually take the temperature of the steak. Take the skillet out of the oven and close the oven door. Take the temperature by inserting thermometer through the side of the steak, towards the middle.
Flip the steaks onto the other side when they are getting about 15-20 degrees away from your desired temperature.
Once steaks reach desired temperature, take them out of the skillet immediately and let the steaks rest for about 5 minutes before cutting it. Add a couple of thin slices of butter on each steak while its resting.
NOTE: It is impossible to tell you how long it will take for the steak to reach the temperature because every steak is different size and different thickness. Time can vary for easy and every steak, it could take as fast as 5-6 minutes or as long as 15 minutes. It depends on desired temperature as well as the steak itself.

Season It With Salt And Pepper

The key to a perfect ribeye steak at home in your oven is cooking it with the highest heat possible and as fast as possible. To do this easily, preheating your oven and your pan is essential.
Your pan should be so hot when you put the steak in it, it sears like it would on a stovetop. To do this, it should sit in a preheated oven for about 30 minutes. When you go to cook your steaks, use extreme caution with the very hot pan I often forget and try to grab a pan in the oven by the handle, which would cause major injury!
Be sure to keep a high heat oven mitt nearby so you dont forget.

If you are cooking steak medium, this means cooking it for about 3-5 minutes on each side.
This will give you a really good crust and caramelization without overcooking the meat.
Cook your steak one minute less than what you want it served at and then let it rest before cutting into.
The length of time you broil your steak is going to largely depend on the doneness you want.
For medium-rare, the cooking time will be a little shorter than for a more well-done steak.
Ive had great luck with cooking my steaks to medium and slicing off whatever extra is still uncooked right before serving!
Its easier this way because if you have any leftovers from your steak you will know how long to cook the steak when making a sandwich or other recipe later on!
How Do I Know When My Steaks Are Cooked Properly
Everyone likes their steak cooked a little different depending on their personal tastes.
Whichever temperature you choose is A-OK, so long as you remember that your steaks internal temperature will hit the desired temperature while it rests, not while its cooking.
- RARE steak has a cool, red center and will reach the temperature of 125°F.
- MEDIUM RARE steak has a warm red center and will reach the temperature of 135°F.
- A MEDIUM steak has a warm pink center and will reach the temperature of 145°F.
- A MEDIUM WELL steak has a slightly pink center and will reach the temperature of 150°F.
- WELL DONE steak is cooked completely through, meaning there is very little pink left in the middle. It will reach the temperature of 160°F
Remember that the steak will hit the temperature while its resting, so remove it from the broiler about 5-10°F before the desired temperature.

- Medium-Rare: Sear outsides then bake about 6-8 minutes in oven until temperature is 130°F and color is deep pink.
