How To Cook A Perfect Steak In The Oven

    Answer

Cooking a perfect steak in the oven is all about following the right steps and using the correct tools. Here are some tips to help you make your steak cook perfectly:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit before cooking your steak. This will help ensure that your meat cooks evenly and doesnt become dry or overcooked.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice your steak into thin strips. Slice 1/2 inch from edge of strip and then slice diagonally so that each piece is 2-3 inches wide.
  • Place your steak strips on baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Dont forget to adjust cooking temperature according to how thickly your slices are cut.
  • Let the steak cool slightly before serving.
  • Simple Broiled Flank Steak With Herb Oil

Flank steak is a relatively lean cut of meat but full of flavor. This preparation is low on the fussiness factor: Put your seasoned steak on a preheated broiler pan and cook, no flipping needed. Just be sure to cut the meat against the grain-across, not parallel with, the visible lines of muscle fibers-so the steak will be tender, not chewy.

Oven Cooking Tips For Ribeye Roast

Theres not much you need to do with ribeye roast while it cooks to get excellent results. Instead, avoid opening the oven more than necessary to check on your roast. If you have one, use an in-oven thermometer to check the temperature without opening the oven door.

Some people like basting their roast a couple of times while cooking. This isnt necessary, but you can certainly do it if youd like. Use garlic butter or a small amount of olive oil to brush along the top of the roast 2-3 times as it cooks.

Finally, remember to cook the roast with the fat side up, as the fat renders down during cooking to absorb into the meat for flavor and tenderization.

How to Broil Steak in the Oven

Once both sides have been seared, insert the leave-in thermometer through the side of the steak, towards the middle. Move the skillet into the pre-heated oven.

Set the thermometer to the desired temperature. If you are not using a leave in thermometer, you will need to manually take the temperature of the steak. Take the skillet out of the oven and close the oven door. Take the temperature by inserting thermometer through the side of the steak, towards the middle.

Flip the steaks onto the other side when they are getting about 15-20 degrees away from your desired temperature.

Once steaks reach desired temperature, take them out of the skillet immediately and let the steaks rest for about 5 minutes before cutting it. Add a couple of thin slices of butter on each steak while its resting.

NOTE: It is impossible to tell you how long it will take for the steak to reach the temperature because every steak is different size and different thickness. Time can vary for easy and every steak, it could take as fast as 5-6 minutes or as long as 15 minutes. It depends on desired temperature as well as the steak itself.

Season It With Salt And Pepper

Steak is one of those foods you want to shine on its own. You dont want to go overboard with the spices and then not even taste the beef, especially if you opted for a more expensive cut. Nevertheless, you do need to season your steak to bring out its full flavor. A generous sprinkling of salt is all you really need. A little bit of pepper can add some bite, and some opt for whisper of sugar to help with caramelization. Save your herbs and other seasonings for the sauce, or better yet, make acompound butter.

How To Cook A Ribeye Steak

Ribeye steaks are one of my favorite steaks for their rich, delicious flavor that comes from having lots of fat marbled throughout. Ribeyes are best when cooked very, very hot and very, very fast making them a natural fit for the grill.

Its not always ideal to cook a steak on the grill though, so this technique will get perfect steak right from your oven, using your broiler for super high heat! The key to a perfect ribeye steak at home in your oven is cooking it with the highest heat possible and as fast as possible. To do this easily, preheating your oven and your pan is essential.

Your pan should be so hot when you put the steak in it, it sears like it would on a stovetop. To do this, it should sit in a preheated oven for about 30 minutes. When you go to cook your steaks, use extreme caution with the very hot pan I often forget and try to grab a pan in the oven by the handle, which would cause major injury!

Be sure to keep a high heat oven mitt nearby so you dont forget.

How Long Should You Broil A Steak

When broiling steak the key is to get a nice char on both sides.

If you are cooking steak medium, this means cooking it for about 3-5 minutes on each side.

This will give you a really good crust and caramelization without overcooking the meat.

Cook your steak one minute less than what you want it served at and then let it rest before cutting into.

The length of time you broil your steak is going to largely depend on the doneness you want.

For medium-rare, the cooking time will be a little shorter than for a more well-done steak.

Ive had great luck with cooking my steaks to medium and slicing off whatever extra is still uncooked right before serving!

Its easier this way because if you have any leftovers from your steak you will know how long to cook the steak when making a sandwich or other recipe later on!

How Do I Know When My Steaks Are Cooked Properly

How to Cook a Steak in the Oven

Everyone likes their steak cooked a little different depending on their personal tastes.

Whichever temperature you choose is A-OK, so long as you remember that your steaks internal temperature will hit the desired temperature while it rests, not while its cooking.

    • RARE steak has a cool, red center and will reach the temperature of 125°F.
    • MEDIUM RARE steak has a warm red center and will reach the temperature of 135°F.
    • A MEDIUM steak has a warm pink center and will reach the temperature of 145°F.
    • A MEDIUM WELL steak has a slightly pink center and will reach the temperature of 150°F.
    • WELL DONE steak is cooked completely through, meaning there is very little pink left in the middle. It will reach the temperature of 160°F

Remember that the steak will hit the temperature while its resting, so remove it from the broiler about 5-10°F before the desired temperature.

Also, remember that since Panorama steaks are grass fed and grass finished and leaner, theyll cook a little faster than conventional steaks.

How long you broil steaks for will depend on their thickness. Thinner steaks will cook much faster than thick ones. Flip the steak halfway through so both sides have the opportunity to get nice and browned.

Generally speaking, plan for a 3/4-inch steak to take 6-10 minutes, a 1-inch thick steak to take 12-17 minutes, and a 1 1/2-inch steak to take 19-23 minutes.
