Philadelphias beloved cheesesteak is iconic and a cultural obsession. Most argue the cheesesteak is rarely duplicated successfully outside of Philadelphia. What they do agree on is that the cheesesteak consists of a crusty hoagie roll filled with thinly sliced sautéed beef and melted cheese.

I am not a cheesesteak aficionado but I did create a darn good version here. This starts with sautéed tri-color of bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. Add to that thinly sliced marinated sirlion laid out on a hoagie bun with melted provolone cheese, broiled to perfection and slathered with a garlic cream cheese sauce. Oh yahthis sounds A LOT like game day food to me.

Tip: Freeze sirloin for 30-45 minutes before slicing. Its much easier to get thin slices this way.

    I had it in between shopping for Uggs and Dominic buying new trainers. It was delicious and we both said to each other how nice it was and how we should have this again and again.

    Youll have just the right amount of time to take care of this task while the cheese is melting into the beef and veggie mixture.

    Its important to use a cut of beef that does not require a long cooking time to get tender. Ribeye is a common choice but the cost is beyond what Im willing to spend, especially considering this recipe calls for 2½ to 3 pounds of beef.

    My favorite cut of beef for this Philly Cheesesteak recipe is sirloin, specifically petite sirloin. Top sirloin is a wonderful choice but petite sirloin is less expensive and still plenty tender enough to create a fabulous Cheesesteak. Its also a thinner cut so there is a bit less slicing involved. Ive been able to pick up value packs of petite sirloin for less than $4 per pound at my local Safeway. You just cant beat that!

    Youll need a good, sharp knife to slice the sirloin as thinly as possible against the grain. Once sliced, cut the beef into very small pieces.

    Arbys is closing out the summer in style by bringing back its Prime Rib Cheesesteak sandwiches, according to The Fast Food Post. Arbys introduced the Prime Rib Cheesesteak and Spicy Prime Rib Cheesesteak sandwiches on its limited-time-only menu almost exactly one year ago, per Chew Boom. Arbys didnt elevate the two offerings to the permanent menu, but the chain thought highly enough of the steak sandwiches to bring them back now, so you can have one more comfort food option to get you through the back-to-school season.

    Prices vary by location, but The Fast Food Post reports that Arbys is offering the sub-style sandwich for $6.29 or $9.19 for the full meal, which comes with fries and a drink. The standard version of the sandwich comes with provolone cheese, onions, and fire-roasted red and yellow peppers on a toasted sub roll, per the Arbys menu page.     The thing about a Pats Philly Cheese Steak is that they are the most magical sandwich youll ever eat but to enjoy them you have to go to Philadelphia, park in the most ridiculous environment ever where the only parking is the sidewalks around the restaurant, get in a long line that basically goes across the street and then order quick AND correctly so you dont become everyones least favorite person.

    My version of Pats Philly Cheese Steak is as close as you can get to the real thing while staying home.

    I am going to just say this and you guys can take it or leave it. Take it: Buy Cheez Whiz or you can use Provolone Cheese. You guys know me, I tend to stick with things that are as close to nature as possible unless I have a REALLY good reason. THIS is a really good reason! The flavor is amazing, the drippy quality of the cheese is awesome and makes the sandwich even better. Plus the authentic Pats Philly Cheese Steak is made with it, when you order you say with wiz so if you change the cheese, just be aware it wont taste quite as authentically Pats.

    And I mean look at that drippy melty cheese? A note if you are admiring the photos and notice the beef is slightly thicker. I used a sharp chefs knife and sliced as thinly as I could for my sandwich and left my husbands a little thicker. Then I photograpphed HIS. Totally want to scream even typing that. The only difference was the beef was slightly thinner to begin with.

    Bolners Uncle Chris $5 Filet Steaks

    So Im laughing as I keep typing $5 filet. Im sorry I dont have any pictures of the steaks before I cooked them or before we devoured them. I really wasnt planning on posting this online as it was just a quick weeknight meal. Im sure Ill have to do another post with proper documentation. I just felt that I needed to show how well this Uncle Chris seasoning is until I have time to do that. I mean, I dont know Chris, but his steak seasoning is incredible.

    It literally smells like butter, and that flavor stays with the steak throughout the cook. I dont care if youre a quick and direct cooker or reverse sear. The great flavor never goes away.

    Look at the video and pictures below, look at the parsley/green herbs even after the steak is cooked. This is good stuff!

    Im a mostly salt+pepper guy when it comes to steak, heck even brisket at that. But this just does something to a steak that you will keep coming back to. It turned those $5 steaks into what youd pay for a steakhouse steak at lunch.

    There arent really any negative points about this seasoning, other than I personally wouldnt use it on anything but a steak. Theres plenty of people that claim its great on beef fajitas, but I have my favorites in that department and I dont think this flavor profile goes with tex-mex.

    How To Make Philly Cheesesteaks With Peppers And Onions

    The process is easy! Youll need a large, deep sauté pan to start. If you dont have any large sauté pans, a Dutch oven will do the trick.

    I love to add bell peppers and onions to add a burst of color and a ton of flavor to these tasty cheesesteaks.

    Heat vegetable oil over MEDIUM-LOW heat and sauté thinly sliced onion and bell pepper. You want to avoid browning the peppers and onions so if they do begin to brown, reduce the heat under the pan a bit. When they are nice and tender, transfer them to a large dish and set aside.

    Add additional oil to the pan and then add half of the chopped sirloin to the hot pan. Season with a little Lawrys Seasoned Salt, or your favorite all-purpose seasoning, and a little garlic pepper. Cook and stir until browned and then transfer this first batch of browned beef to the dish with the peppers and onions.

    Repeat the process with the remaining beef and seasoning. Transfer the second batch of browned beef to the dish and drain any juices from the pan.

    Return the pan to the heat and transfer the cooked veggies and beef to the pan. Place sliced provolone over the top and cover the pan to allow the cheese to melt

    Use tongs to mix the melted cheese throughout the beef and veggie mixture and its time to load up those hoagie rolls!
