How To Make Outback Ranch Dressing At Home
This Copycat Outback Ranch Dressing is super easy to make. Simply whisk together some mayonnaise, buttermilk, ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne, and black pepper. Let the dressing sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours and enjoy!
I used Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix and full-fat buttermilk. This is a thicker ranch dressing, so feel free to add a little more buttermilk if you want a thinner dressing.
Even though there is a little cayenne pepper in this Copycat Outback Ranch Dressing, it isnt spicy. If you want a spicy buttermilk ranch dressing I would double the cayenne pepper.

Doesnt The Outback Seasoning Contain 17 Spices
But doesnt the Outback Steakhouse seasoning include 17 spices and herbs? Yes the Outback Steakhouse seasoning does contain more herbs and spices than this copycat seasoning. That being said, some of the spices are used in small quantities and some do not contribute as much to the flavor as others.
When we were developing this recipe, our main goal was to create a seasoning that captured most of the flavor of the Outback Steakhouse seasoning using as few spices as possible. That way you can make the seasoning at home with common herbs and spices without having to go out and buy a bunch of fancy herbs and spices that you may never use again.
How To Make The Best Steak Rub

Making a steak rub is really easy! All you need to do is mix all the spices together and its ready to be used on your favorite steak.
I recommend trying the recipe as-is first and then tweaking it to suit your preferences! From there, you can adjust the salt, heat and the sugar.
If you dont like the hint of sweetness from the brown sugar, you can omit it, reduce it or even swap it for a paleo alternative, like coconut sugar!
Recommended tools and equipment:airtight glass jar, cast iron skillet or gas grill.
Heres how I make the best steak rub recipe. As always, you will find the printable version of the recipe at the end of this post!

- Cayenne. Ground cayenne pepper is another common ingredient in steakhouse seasoning. In fact, it is likely used in the seasoning used at the Outback Steakhouse. If you dont mind a little bit of spice then we recommend adding a little bit of ground cayenne to your steakhouse seasoning.
- Celery salt. If you keep celery salt in your kitchen then you should consider replacing some of the regular salt with celery salt. If you love the taste of celery salt then you can even replace all of the salt with celery salt.

Is Steak Seasoning Bad
Steak seasoning should always be stored in an ice chest near water or above a temperature of no more than 92F. While commercially packaged steak seasoning is perfectly fine to eat, it will age, starting to lose potency as time goes on, whereas its intended flavors end up as its served. There is only one best quality, best packaging time, indicated by the bottle.
Herbs De Provence Steak Seasoning
Herbs de provence is a flavorful and aromatic blend of green spices. Pick up a jar at the grocery store and create this seasoning blend by mixing two teaspoons kosher salt with a teaspoon each herbs de provence, sugar and coarsely groundblack pepper.
Editors Tip: If you cant find the pre-mixed spice, make your own by combining dried rosemary, basil, thyme, oregano, marjoram, tarragon, parsley and fennel seed.

Copycat Outback Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
We recently ate dinner at Outback Steakhouse. It has been YEARS since we have eaten at Outback. I forgot how good it is. We each got a salad and split a couple of appetizers. SO good! The salad was great especially the ranch dressing. OMG! I could drink that stuff. Chicken Legs asked me to try and copy the recipe so we could have it at home. I took a stab at it, and I think it is really close. We both loved it, so that is all that matters. It is a million times better than the bottled stuff! This is definitely our new go-to Ranch dressing recipe!

The Truth About Outback Steakhouse’s Secret Seasoning Blend
It may be called “Outback Steakhouse” but the restaurant chain is about as Australian as McDonald’s. The chain was founded by four friends from America who were looking to capitalize on national interest in Australia generated by the 1986 movie Crocodile Dundee. The group had toyed with the idea of visiting Australia before launching the restaurant and then decided to go ahead with their restaurant without seeing The Land Down Under anyway because they wanted to deliver “American food and Australian fun.”
As far as beginnings go, Outback Steakhouse didn’t exactly have an auspicious start. Mental Floss says that on opening day, the restaurant’s employees had to occupy vacant parking lot spaces so that the establishment seemed busy. But it was only a matter of time before word got around and people began coming for the steaks and a deep-fried vegetable concoction which came to be known as the Bloomin’ Onion. Outback’s steaks have a distinctive flavor, but it might not be a spice blend that you’d find in Australia. But even if you would, you probably wouldn’t find out what’s in it.
What Can You Put Steakhouse Seasoning On
What can you put steakhouse seasoning on? There are so many options! Here are a few of our favorite options.

If you have ever had a creamy pasta dish at an Outback Steakhouse then you know how delicious the contrast between a smooth, creamy sauce base and a bold, peppery seasoning can be.
