Dining room was closed for renovation but the drive thru was a tasty substitute. Food and drinks were exceptionally delicious. Whoever was working February 28,2022 around 6:30 pm at the Goshen,Indiana location you guys did an amazing job!! ?
the food is delicious if you can get it. Two nights in a row they’ve forgotten an item or two. I’ve gotten all the way home and now I have to go back to get the chicken fingers they forgot to give us for my son. Not really happy right now. 🙁 but the crew’s very nice. Edit: Have revisited because there’s nothing like their Burgers ? and shakes! Doing a lot better now. Prob were short of staff before. Always check the bag now!
Went to the Goshen Steak n Shake, employees there were very pleasant and helpful. Received my order quickly and it was the greatest tasting burger that I’ve had in a long time. The manager handed me my order and also told me to have a great day and enjoy. Such a super nice fellow and I did indeed enjoy every bite!!
Gift Card Payment Wont Submit
I Have tried to order multiple times on the app and went to check out with a gift card and when I go to submit the order it says sorry something went wrong. I also tried to order milkshakes for delivery with my gift card online and when I clicked to submit the order it says Something Is Wrong We’re sorry. The gift card number you entered is either invalid or restricted to dine-in purchases only. My gift cards are not invalid as the guy at the window the other day swiped them and had no issues swiping it to pay. I have never heard of a gift card thats not able to be used for a mobile order before.Not sure why I cant seem to place any mobile or online orders and pay with either of my gift cards but its very stressful when I am at the restaurant and unable to place the order to do curbside and have to wait in the drive through. The old app used to work way better.

A YouTube user pointed to the fact that the wait and the price don’t seem to be congruent: “It’s like they don’t know what their identity should be. After same-store sales plummeted 7.1 percent in 2008, the brand put together seven straight years of positive gains, including a 7.5 percent run in 2010 that stacked on a 4.1 percent increase the year before.
If you track back to when present management took over on August 5, 2008, Steak n Shake was losing $100,000 per day. By the end of 2009, it was generating $100,000 per day, the company said. Over the next nine years, its aggregate pre-tax earnings were about $185 million and those earnings translated into an even greater sum of distributable cash.
Accelerate to the present, and the comeback story has lost its rosy undertone. Sardar Biglari, CEO of Biglari Holdings, wrote in a letter to shareholders, signed February 22: The decade of control under current management ended much like it startedwith heavy losses.
Steak n Shakes average-unit volumes have been on the decline, too. The company posted AUVs of $1,839.51 in 2017 and had total systemwide sales of $939.99 . The year before it reported AUVs of $1.9 million and systemwide sales of $1,027 .
Ever since we took control of Steak n Shake, we have been steadfast in our formula for success: providing the highest quality burgers and shakes at the lowest possible profit per customer from an ever-increasing number of customers, Biglari wrote.

Many chains are using the pandemic to make significant changes in their operation, real estate or their menus. But perhaps no chain is taking a step quite as aggressive as the one Steak n Shake is taking: Changing its entire service model.
The Indianapolis-based burger chain, long a weird family dining chain-burger concept hybrid, is making a full shift to a counter-service model, eliminating wait staff in the process. Its a step that is not unheard of, but is one loaded with risks.
Yet the company has little to lose at this point.
Steak n Shakes same-store sales increased every quarter for a seven-year period between 2009 and 2016, but theyve been down ever since. They decreased 13 straight periods as of the end of 2019. The company hasnt reported the key metric this year, reporting only changes in revenues and franchise fees
That total revenue in the first six months of the year has decreased by more than a third. In the second quarter they were cut in half, which is in part due to store closures and sales of restaurants to franchisees. The company and its franchisees have closed 85 stores since the end of 2018, and currently operate a total of 541.
Meanwhile, the chain has been losing money and has considerable debt. Its credit rating has suffered and the chain itself is believed to be in danger of a bankruptcy filing by the time its debt comes due next year.
