Step 6 Determine Doneness Of Steak Using The Touch Method
Touch the center of the steak with your finger. If its soft, its more rare or medium rare. If its pretty firm its more well done. Practice and experience will tell you when its done to your liking. Because every steak and cut has its own thickness, size and shape, its impossible to determine exactly how long each steak needs to be cooked. Its much better to practice and excel at the touch method so you can create the best steak every time, exactly how you like it, no matter the steak youre grilling. Note: Never puncture a steak. This will release all the juices and give you a less flavorful and juicy steak.
How Do The Items Arrive

- For a 1 inch steak you will be grilling it approximately 3-4 minutes per side over direct, high heat then move to indirect until it reaches your desired temp .

Recall: Mr Steak Gas Grills Sold At Bass Pro Cabelas Recalled Due To Fire Hazard

Over 3,000 MR. STEAK Gas Grills sold at Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas and ABT Appliance & Electronics stores nationwide and online have been recalled due to a fire hazard. Read on for the specific recalled products and what to do if you own one.
The safety issue with these grills involves a gas regulator hose with attached fuel gauge that can melt if it comes in contact with the bottom of the grills firebox, posing a fire hazard. Fortunately, there is a repair available.
There have been nine reports of grill fires although no injuries or property damage have been reported.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice, the recall involves four and five burner models of MR. STEAK propane gas grills, models MS-4B-PG, SKU 2472264 and MS-5B-PG, SKU 2472265, that have both a fuel gauge and a fuel line that is not attached to the inside of the grill. The grills are stainless steel with black trim and have four or five black and red dials. The words MR. STEAK are printed below the thermometer on the grills lid. The recall also applies to SKUs 2366916 and 2366917 if the consumer added an aftermarket fuel gauge to the regulator assembly. A label on the inside of the left compartment door or on the back of the grill identifies the model number of the grill. The SKU is printed on the purchase receipt.

Best Gas Grill Under $500

Char-Broils mid-sized, mid-market grill is an all-arounder. You get the shiny, stainless look of the high-end grills in the $1,000-plus market for half the price, plus plenty of storage and a sauce burner on the side. Plus, it comes with all-important infrared tech, which raises its temperature ceiling substantially. The budget infrared grill uses perforated steel sheets over the super-charged burners to increase the max temperature to around 725 degrees. Testing Notes: What To Look For In A Gas Grill
BTWho?: BTUs are an outdated and easily manipulated measurement of grill power. The numbers grillmakers provide are calculated on per hour measurements, and are derived from data on how much fuel the grill burns, not its temperature levels. A bigger grill that chews through more gas could have a sky-high BTU figure and not breach the 500 degree barrier, which should be the absolute bare minimum. Ignore BTUs and look for max temperature output, which is a better gauge of a grills power.
Want steaks? Go infrared: Infrared burners get dramatically hotter than standard gas burners. Using standard burners, most gas grills will struggle to exceed 600 to 700 degrees, and wont develop a browned crust on a steak before youve overcooked it the infrared burner solves this issue by channeling heat from a burner into a ceramic tile, which converts that convective heat into infrared heat, dramatically increasing its intensity. You need an infrared burner to brown a steak properly. It wont matter how long you let the grill warm up with the lid down if the grills max temperature is meh. Note: some companies give infrared burners a branded name like Sear Zone or something in that vein.
You need a meat thermometer: Lets not mince words the temperature probes built into most grills are absolutely worthless. Instead, get one of our recommended instant-read thermometers.
