It was anything but a smooth exit for a 30-year-old Milwaukee man who police say attempted to bilk a local grocery store out of $65 worth of rib-eye steaks on Feb. 8.
According to the police report, at about 8:44 p.m. the suspect was on his way to the exit of Pick n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave. with six packages of steak tucked inside his coat.
Employees watched him conceal the meat on surveillance video and confronted him at the door. Upon being challenged, the suspect pushed an employee and a fight ensued. The steaks were dropped during the scuffle and the suspect ran out of the store, with two employees following in chase.
