Eat Like ‘Empire’ at Empire Steak House in NYC

A perfect place for a business lunch, eve dinner or a quick drink after work. The steaks and burgers are something that always takes me back to this beautiful place with great ambience and ever welcoming staff. A two thumbs up to the this outfit, and how the owner and team tries to make every dining experience a memorable one.

Operations May Be Disrupted Due To Covid

Though the name might suggest magnitude, this Midtown restaurant can be a relatively sedate affair. Part of the Ben & Jacks team of steakhouses, Empire doesnt try to reinvent the wheel. The menu is straightforward offering few surprises, which is by design. The usual cuts of meat are available, including a good thick-cut rib-eye and nice lamb chops. For the non red meat eater, Empire does a fair job with salmon, grilled tuna and Chilean sea bass. Sides, in compliance with tradition, stick to classic steakhouse offerings: creamed spinach, onion rings, baked potato and steak fries. The wine list skews toward California and the decent house wines are included in the by-the-glass selections.

On a bien mangé et le cadre est chaleureux et calme.Toutefois la note a été trop salée par rapport aux prestations.

The restaurant itself is beautiful and looks very classy. We booked for 9 people on thanksgiving, we were very disappointed. The service was probably the worse we have experienced in New York. My husband went to get a drink from the bar as the service was so slow, he got told to sit back down as Someone would be with us shortly…after waiting quite a while my husband got up again, this time a waiter followed him and returned with the drinks. The presentation of the food was none existent, my starter was a piece of belly pork on a plate… it didnt get much better after that. A bottle of sparkling water was $20 which they opened and started pouring before we found out. There was 3 children so soft drinks for them and only one bottle of wine, the rest was a couple of beers each. We were shocked when the bill came and it cost us $300 a couple. We had a booking for 17.30 so not busy at that time. We will avoid this restaurant on future trips.

Very expensive and bad quality steakhouse, I ordered steak cooked well done, became medium with plate full of blood…I left more than a half of the steak-none of the staff asked me if there is something wrong with it, they simply took the plates away! Creamy spinach tasted terrible… only good thing was the mac & cheese for 20$
