How To Make A Ranch Dip Instead

Adkins Seasonings – Matt’s Brisket

Going to a get-together and need something tasty and keto-friendly to bring? You can use the homemade ranch seasoning mix to create a ranch dip.

To make a dip, all you need is:

  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon of homemade ranch dressing mix

Add both ingredients into a small bowl and mix until well combined. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Store it in an airtight container to bring to your get together or serve it to the kids as a snack.

Ranch Seasoning Without Buttermilk

Some ranch seasoning mixes include buttermilk powder. Thats why Ive included how I use it below.

However, buttermilk powder is not Whole30 compliant. It might also be more carbs than some folks would like on keto.

So, you should omit the buttermilk if you need to have a Whole30 compliant and dairy-free version.

I first shared this recipe without buttermilk powder so please know that you wont be missing out.

I personally add the buttermilk powder when Im hoping for a closer copycat to the buttermilk ranch seasoning packets that you can pick up in the store.

Is A Dry Rub Better Than A Marinade

A marinade is better at tenderizing meat in the long run so if you have a tough cut of meat, use a marinade. If your meat is already a tender cut, go with a dry rub.

A dry rub is meant as a flavoring for the meat and not for seeping into it and tenderizing it. Think of it more like a flavor coating or a sauce that you top your meat with.

My dry rubs tend to have more salt because I am adding flavor to the plain and enhancing the flavors of the other spices. Do not leave the rub on for more than 24 hours as it will dry out your meat.

If you are making a spice mix into a dry rub you need to watch the sugar content. Sugars can burn on a grill or in an oven that is over 275F so I tend to reduce the sugar content and up the salt content if I am transforming a spice mix to a dry rub.

What Are Bbq Rubs

You can never really tell whats in pre-mixed spice blends because the ingredient list mentions things like, salt, sugar, oregano, and other natural spices.

But what are all the other natural spices that they cant list out individually? Doesnt seem very natural if you cant tell me what they are EXACTLY.

I wouldnt be surprised if there werent any actual spices in it. Just colored salt and MSG.

Ways To Use Homemade Ranch Dressing

This keto ranch dressing also works well as a low carb dip for veggies. Fresh ones are always good, but its also delicious with fried zucchini and squash.

You can simply adjust the amount of unsweetened almond milk to adjust the thickness, as needed. I like to make it a little thicker for a dip, or thinner for a dressing.

Aside from salads and vegetables, this dressing is amazing to use in recipes. Thats actually how I remembered to post it. It was because I incorporated it in a keto casserole recipe that I have coming up.

Stay tuned for a low carb chicken bacon ranch casserole coming up later this week . In the meantime, you cant go wrong with this low carb keto ranch dressing in a big ole salad.

Should You Put Salt In A Dry Rub

Adkins Seasonings – Chris’s Country Ribs

Pre-mixed seasoning blends tend to overdo it on the salt because it is a lot cheaper than the other spices in the mix.

But lets not forget that salt is also a great meat tenderizer. It is necessary to get your meat tender. When you are BBQing on the grill or a smoker tender meat is what everyone wants.

How To Make Bbq Spice Rub

ONE: Combine all ingredients, give them a good stir to mix, and store in an air tight container in a cool, dry place.

TWO: Season your food as desired!

This recipe for my homemade BBQ Seasoning Mix makes roughly 1 & 1/4 cups. This is enough for a few dishes depending on how spiced you like your foods. I use 1/4 cup per pound of meat.

It goes well in so many dishes like my cast iron beef sirloin steak, Ninja Foodi Pot Roast, and air fryer jalapeño poppers. You can even use it to make ranch dressing.

What Is The Difference Between A Seasoning And A Rub

A seasoning is really a mix of spices and herbs that is sprinkled on vegetables or cuts of meat. A rub contains the same but in larger pieces.

Coarser pieces add texture to the meats along with stronger flavor. They are applied andrubbed into the meat prior to cooking.

A spice mix is a combination of spices and herbs that you add to marinades, soups, dips, and dressings. A dry rub is a spice and herb combination that you rub on the outside of something before cooking it.

Dont Forget The Fatty Spine When Making Pork Chops

Adkins Seasoning Seasoning, Steak, Ranch Style (12 oz)

Often, I swap the meat in this recipe for pork chops. To ensure that every part of the pork chop is amazing, I use one of the final minutes of searing to cook the fatty spine.

During this minute, I stand the pork chop up on the fatty side and sear it. This searing makes the fat crispy enough to eat!

How To Make Ranch Dressing Thats Easy & Delicious

Ranch dressing is usually made with buttermilk or buttermilk powder. We dont have it around very often, though. I dont like having to purchase something just for one purpose.

I wanted a low carb ranch dressing recipe that I could make on the fly when I feel like it, using ingredients I have all the time. Since this isnt a sweet type of dressing, it wasnt too hard to do. This was what I came up with, and I love it!

So, how to make ranch dressing without buttermilk and still have it taste like ranch? Its actually really easy.

The key is a combination of sour cream and lemon juice to create the same tangy ranch flavor. And, we pretty much always have mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, and dried herbs in our kitchen. Ill bet you do, too!

Yep, those are the only ingredients youll need. To prepare the ranch dressing, just whisk all the ingredients together. Crazy simple!

The almond milk goes in last, so that you can add it gradually and adjust the consistency to your liking. You can make it as thick or thin as you want! If you have an almond allergy or dont want to use almond milk for some other reason, thats easy to swap. Feel free to use heavy cream, coconut milk , or even regular dairy milk if the extra carbs are acceptable.

I Had A Freezer Full Of Beef

About a year ago, my husband and I decided to eat mostly all-natural and organic meats. While this meat is better for us and tastes noticeably more flavorful and tender, it is expensive.

We went from paying like $4/lb to spending $10/lb or more for meat. So, I signed my family up for Butcher Box to get meat in bulk and save money.

Butcher Box delivers 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, free range organic chicken, and heritage breed pork for less than $6.00 per meal. Unless you get a custom box, their regular box includes a curated collection of meats.

My goal was to test out a new recipe and put my beef top sirloin steaks to good use!

Keto Ranch Dressing For My Blog

You guys, Im still totally floored by all your support. I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams that I would have so many people coming here, reading my rambling, and making my recipes. Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

The anniversary of Wholesome Yum starting was August 10th. The funny thing is, this is my second time celebrating and I have just now noticed that I began this blog on my cousins birthday. Not sure how that happened. Fortunately, its the blogs birthday that I keep forgetting, not hers.

The recipes on this blog started out as a little random. These days, I try to make to what you guys are asking for. I still get to create fun low carb recipes, but its even more rewarding to fill a need people have.

People have been asking me for homemade low carb salad dressings. So, Im happy to share my go-to low carb keto salad dressing recipe.

How Do You Get Your Rub To Stick To The Meat

The Best Steak Rub?

The best way to rub your ribs is to take off the membrane first. If there isnt one or you are using a cut of meat that doesnt have one, skip this step.

Pat the meat with paper towels to remove any excess water. Next rub the surface of the meat with vegetable oil. Sprinkle the rub over the surface liberally.

Use your hands and actually RUB the spices into the meat! Feel free to use gloves if you like to stick your finger in your eyes on a regular basis. Hello, contact lens wearers!

Let the rub sit overnight or at least 15 minutes at room temperature. Your meat should be room temp anyways when you cook it so it cooks evenly!

How Much Ranch Seasoning Is In A Packet

If you are following a recipe that calls for one packet of Ranch seasoning or 1 ounce of ranch seasoning youll need to know how much ranch seasoning mix to use.

Though one packet may vary between brands, the conversion is 1 ounce = 2 tablespoons. So, if you are following a recipe that calls for 2 ounces of ranch seasoning, you would use 4 tablespoons of my ranch seasoning mix.
