Taco Bell has carved a lane for themselves in the fast food breakfast game by continually introducing new items to its morning menu since its launch in 2014. Keeping this momentum, The Bell will roll out three new breakfast burritos on March 12: the Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito, the Hash Brown Toasted Breakfast Burrito and the Grande Toasted Breakfast Burrito.

Shown in our newest News Bites, the Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito keeps it true to Taco Bell by using its signature nacho cheese along with a classic combo of egg and sausage, and only costs $1.

The Hash Brown Toasted Breakfast Burrito is carried by an entire hash brown patty inside of it, but also has eggs, a three cheese blend, and your choice of sausage or bacon.

The Grande Toasted Breakfast Burrito is a beast of a burrito. It comes with eggs, a three cheese blend, fresh pico de gallo, potato bites, and your choice of bacon, sausage, or steak making it one of the most hefty and most satisfying things on the breakfast menu.

Now, Taco Bell has indeed had breakfast burritos before, but this is their first time introducing this toasted burrito lineup. And, realistically, crisping up the tortilla and melting the cheese automatically makes any breakfast burrito 50% better, at the very least. Trust me, this math is tried and true, so Im here for the toasting.

Supreme Chicken Soft Taco

So, this costs $2.89 and has 4 net carbs.

To be a hundred percent honest with you, I prefer the steak taco in terms of value. I just feel like you dont get as much chicken for the same price.

That said, the Supreme Chicken Soft Taco is a decent keto Taco Bell option. Especially if you like chicken.

Substitutions For Taco Bell Menu Items

As I said, I have a few recipes that can help you replace some of the high-carb foods from the Taco Bell menu!

This burrito includes egg, potato, tomato, and nacho cheese sauce. Both potatoes and tomatoes contribute to the daily recommended dose of vegetables. Calories and saturated fat are rather reasonable for this option, but Taco Bell does give you the option to swap it for real shredded cheese for an additional $0.65.

The only reason these donut holes get a top spot on this list is because they are portion controlled. If you’re going to munch on sweets, this isn’t a terrible option to choose.

It’s sad that fried hash browns get the top spot on this list, which says a lot about the healthy options on Taco Bell’s breakfast menu.

As you can see, Taco Bell doesn’t have many nutrient-dense, healthier options on their breakfast menu. This doesn’t mean you have to avoid Taco Bell altogether. In fact, it’s important to treat yourself to the foods you love from time to time. The grande toasted breakfast burrito with steak is a monster-sized burrito perfect for scaring away the morning blues. Succulent steak bites make this one of Taco Bells most popular meals.

The grande toasted breakfast burrito with steak also comes with egg, a blend of three kinds of buttery cheese, crunchy seasoned breakfast potatoes, and tomatoes.

Together, the burrito only comes to 560 calories and includes 27 grams of protein and four grams of dietary fiber.

Things To Avoid When Ordering Low Carb & Keto At Taco Bell

Ok, so we went over a ton of stuff to get at Taco Bell if you’re trying to keep things low carb and keto.

However, I also want to quickly go over a few menu items youll want to avoid.

These are going to be the most carb-heavy foods on the menu. So make sure you have these removed from anything – and everything – you order at Taco Bell.

Okay, so the first items to avoid at Taco Bell are, of course, the flour tortilla and taco shells. Of course, they do come with a lot of the menu items at Taco Ball, so just ask them to remove that from your order. They’ll happily do so!

Next, youll want to pass on the sweet chili sauce each serving has 8 net carbs. Yeah, definitely not keto-friendly.

Youll also want to stay away from the potato bites and the red strips that youll sometimes see them put on tacos and burritos.

And of course, order everything with no beans and no rice.

How To Make A Breakfast Crunchwrap

  • Cook bacon until crisp. Crumble bacon.
  • Fry hashbrowns until browned and crispy.
  • Prepare scrambled eggs, by breaking three large eggs into a bowl and whisking them together with a fork.
  • Spray a skillet with non-stick spray and place it over medium heat.
  • Pour eggs into the skillet and season them with salt and pepper.
  • Stir eggs in the skillet until they have cooked thoroughly. Remove from the burner and set eggs aside.
  • Lay a tortilla in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Warm tortilla on each side for about 30 seconds to make the tortilla very pliable.
  • To build the crunch wrap, start by adding cooked hash browns or hash brown patty. Add half of the eggs, sauce, cheese, and bacon.
  • Close the crunchwrap by flipping sides to the center.
  • Spray the large skillet with non-stick spray and place over medium heat.
  • Place the folded crunchwrap in the skillet and cook for about 30 to 40 seconds.

    Review: Taco Bells Hash Brown Toasted Breakfast Burrito Steak

    Though I already had a donut for breakfast, I found myself craving a breakfast burrito. When I drove by Taco Bell, my conscience said, Dont do it, Isla. You dont need the extra calories. And if youre going to get a breakfast burrito, get it from a small business, not Taco Bell.

    I ignored my conscience, pulled up to the drive-thru, and ordered myself a Hash Brown Toasted Breakfast Burrito Steak. I shouldnt have, but the Taco Bell was right there, and the burrito only cost about 3 bucks.

    I never had a breakfast burrito from Taco Bell before, so I wasnt sure if I would like it. Maybe it would be awful, and that would serve me right for not getting my breakfast from a small business.

    I took a bite

    And admittedly, I enjoyed it.

    Though I didnt get any steak in my first bite, I thought that the combination of hash brown, egg, and cheese was really tasty. This might be blasphemous of me to say, but I think Taco Bells hash browns are just as good as the place with the golden arches. Taco Bells hash browns were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and just pretty darn good.

    The first bite was so good that I wouldve been satisfied with a burrito that just contained hash browns, egg, cheese, and no meat.

    And honestly, I shouldve gotten a meatless burrito.

    I guess shame on me for expecting steak from Taco Bell to be decent, but the steak was not good. It was tough, dry, and way too salty.

    Taco Bell sausage is where its at. It was just the right amount of greasy, and the mellow flavor went really well with the cheese. This hash brown had the right amount of crispiness, too.

    The flavors of this Crunchwrap kind of brought me back to my elementary-school lunchroom days in a nostalgic way. Maybe I should have asked for a Styrofoam plate to really bring the experience full-circle.

    This was the best Crunchwrap. It didnt try to be too fancy, and the sausage highlighted all the other ingredients.

    That said, cheese, tortilla, potato, and sausage is a fantastic combination but can get a little one-note. I suggest adding some hot sauce or breakfast salsa to this one for an extra kick.
