How Do You Grill Boneless Ribeye Steak

Season the Angus steaks with salt and pepper, or go with your own favorite flavorings. For gas grills, preheat to medium-high. On a charcoal grill, use around 100 briquets to reach a high temperature, and make sure all of the vents are open during the heat-up process. For medium rare, beef ribeye steaks should cook for 3-4 minutes per side on a charcoal grill, or 2-3 minutes on a gas grill. Make sure to use your meat thermometer to test the internal temperature for the preferred level of doneness.

Grades Of Steak Taste Test Results

Lets dig in to the select steak. It cuts very nicely. Its a good steak, but not a great steak. Even though it has a nice temperature, it still tastes a little bit dry to me. I was expecting a little bit more chew to the steak, so it is a bit better than I expected.

Lets move on over to the choice steak. The difference I see is a richer, beefier taste than the select steak. It is more tender than I expected, but still a little chewy. This is a good steak. You wont be disappointed with this steak.

Lastly, on to the prime steak. It is noticeably more tender than the other two steaks. Also, you get a lot more of that intramuscular fat. This is a phenomenal steak!

In closing, I have to say the USDA select steak performed better than I thought. However, if you are looking for a steak with great flavor and worth the money, I would recommend USDA choice or USDA prime steak. Our goal for this experiment was to educate you about the different USDA grades of steak so the next time youre in the store or restaurant you get the most bang for your buck!

What Is A Good Price For Ribeye Steak

Find out what is a good price for a ribeye steak. Is it really an expensive steak that most people can afford or can you source a good deal? See list of what popular grocery stores charge for Ribeye steaks.

I think it’s safe to say John Wayne ate steak.

These are the famous first words uttered by Mr. Alton Brown in the very first moments of television’s greatest show of all the times – Good Eats.

OK. I know a lot of you are rolling your eyes and thinking of a handiful of shows that better belong among the greatest. For me, Good Eats has had the biggest impact of any show on my life. I may not be writing a food blog right now if it wasn’t for Alton and his cast of characters and puppets.

Back to the point. Today we are talking about steak.

The very same steak that was the topic of that first ever Good Eats episode – the Ribeye. I love a Ribeye steak. Ribeyes are flavorful, tender, and juicy. Very hard to beat good rib eye steaks.

I don’t eat Ribeye a lot. Why? They aren’t cheap eats. It’s more of a special treat thing – the kind of meal I save for a day like father’s day, the first cook-out of the year, bringing home a baby from the hospital, any kind of momentous day can be a Ribeye day.

What Rubs Go Best With Angus Beef Ribeye Steak

Try seasoning your ribeye steaks with a fine blend of dried porcini mushrooms, brown sugar, black pepper and crushed red chilies. First, rub the mixture on the steaks, then grill or broil them, and finish by adding sea salt to taste.

Bring out the delicious flavor of your bone-in cowboy ribeye by rubbing with a mix of dry-roasted garlic, coarse sea salt and ground black pepper to evoke Chicago-style steakhouse flavors.

You can prepare your rib eye steak in numerous ways. You can bake it in the oven, roast it on the grill or cook it on your stovetop with a large skillet. Many also use a slow cooker or a crockpot to cook their Angus beef to perfection. Each cooking method is effective and offers particular advantages. Using your oven is a convenient, hands-free option, but using a stovetop may be faster.

How Much Does Ribeye Steak Cost

On average, your local grocery store and butcher will sell ribeye steak for as little as $7 to as much as $17 per pound. For instance, a thick USDA Prime cut could cost $12 to $17 a pound, while a USDA Choice can cost less than $10 per pound. Ultimately, the costs will depend on the cut, where you purchase it and your geographical location.

A wagyu tomahawk ribeye, which is graded higher than a USDA Prime, can be your costliest option, costing close to $150 per pound.

Sams Club, for instance, sells a three to five-pound ribeye steak for about $44, making the average per pound rate around $9. Costco, on the other hand, has close to 10 ribeye choices, with prices averaging about $170 for close to 16 pounds worth of steak. This 16-count Rastelli USDA Choice ribeye steak, for example, retails for $170 for 16 10-ounce pre-cut steaks.

The HEB grocery store sells a USDA Prime ribeye steak that has been aged for 14 days at $16 per pound.

Now, if youre talking a ribeye steak at a local restaurant, then the costs can be much more. Depending on the franchise, the cost per ounce can be in the $1.60 to $2.80 per ounce range. This, of course, will depend on your geographical location and where you plan on eating.

Dry Aged Ribeye From Porter Road

Sometimes you may want to treat yourself or loved one to the best.

If you are looking for a truly delicious ribeye experience, might I suggest you check out the dry aged steaks from my good friends at Porter Road. I got to meet one of the co-founders James Peisker in Nashville and loved his passion for offering the best meat while making an impact in the life of small farmers.

Their ribeye comes from pasture raised cows and has great marbling and a beautiful fat cap. I couldn’t imagine a finer looking ribeye.

This is THE steak you want to splurge on for your special occasions. The one with the “wow” factor. Choose bone-in for $36/lb or boneless for $39/lb .

    What Is A Ribeye

Ribeye steaks come from the rib area between the chuck and loin. Rib steaks come from the rib primal area of cattle. A ribeye steak comes from the center best portion of a rib steak.

Technically speaking, rib steaks have bones and ribeyes have the bone removed. That distinction has largely been lost in the U.S. and around the world. The terms bone in and boneless ribeye are widely used.

These steaks contain a high degree of intramuscular fat, also known as marbling. As ribeyes cook, the fat melts into the steak resulting in a velvety and buttery taste that is VERY tender.

In fact, only filet mignons are generally considered more tender. However, ribeyes have a more classic beef taste, making them, arguably, the most popular cut with true steak connoisseurs.

Ribeyes are also known as Delmonico, Spencer or Scotch filets.

    Why Is Ribeye So Expensive

If youve ever wondered why that rib-eye steak or beef tenderloin was so expensive, you probably assumed it was because the most desirable cuts of meat naturally cost more. Its just an accident of bovine evolution and anatomy that the part of a steer that provides those tender cuts is relatively small.
