Last year Papa Johns came out with the Steak & Cheese Pizza and it wasnt exactly a great cheesesteak/pizza experience. What was missing from the Steak & Cheese Pizza is now available in the new Philly Cheesesteak Pizza.

Introducing our NEW Philly Cheesesteak Pizza on hand-tossed pizza crust layered with creamy garlic sauce, steak from the Original Philly Cheesesteak Company, fresh onions and green peppers, then covered with mozzarella and provolone cheese.

The Philly Cheesesteak Pizza managed to get most everything right according to my tastes. Onions and green peppers, some provolone in the mix. Things were looking pretty good.

Priced at $12 for a large under a promo option, the Philly Cheesesteak Pizza is an average value. Im getting to the point where I might give bonus points to value when I actually finish a pizza . Overall, I prefer the Dominos version over Papa Johns, yet they arent too far apart. The Papa Johns Philly Cheesesteak Pizza has a mix of good and not so good, but manages to have enough positives to make it a decent representation of a cheesesteak pizza.

Pros: Thick and cheesy… provolone included. Nice mix of cheesesteak ingredients. Meaty morsels of steak.

Cons: Ingredient distribution was uneven. Not a big fan of the garlic cream sauce base.

Taste: 6.75/10

Arriving just in time for the Big Game on Sunday, Papa Johns welcomes back the Philly Cheesesteak Pizza at participating locations for a limited time.

The Philly Cheesesteak Pizza features traditional Philly cheesesteak flavors on a fresh hand-tossed pizza crust thats layered with Philly sauce, steak from the Original Cheesesteak Company, fresh-sliced onions, green peppers, and a blend of asiago, fontina, provolone and cheese made from mozzarella.

A large Philly Cheesesteak Pizza is currently going for the discounted price of $12. It normally goes for $14.49 at my local Papas. Theres also an option to make it an Extra Large for 3 bucks more.

Additionally, Papa Rewards members who spend $20 or more now through Sunday can get a free large 2-topping pizza deposited into their account for each verified order on Monday, February 4, 2019 following the big game.

The Philly Cheesesteak Pizza proved to be a fan favorite for any time or season of the year following its initial offering during the holiday season last December. In addition to the Philly Cheesesteak Pizza, Papa John’s will continue to offer its Double Chocolate Chip Brownie. This decadent dessert is baked fresh to order and is the perfect treat for a big crowd of friends and family watching the basketball games. Available March 16 through April 26 , customers can try the Philly Cheesesteak Pizza for $12 and the family-sized Double Chocolate Chip Brownie for $6 .

Heres all the delicious gourmet pizza toppings for my version of Philly steak pizza

• 1 ball pizza dough
• A little olive oil
• Fresh chopped parsley to sprinkle on top at the end

Other pizza toppings you can add

• Peppers and mushrooms are a pretty classic cheese steak topping, so feel free to throw some fresh or sautéed mushrooms on top as well.
• Provolone cheese is a great substitution or addition to the cheese blend.
• Bell peppers of any color will work. Orange and red peppers are on the sweeter site, whereas green bell peppers are a bit more bitter.
• Any onions will work.Caramelized red onions are another great choice. Walla Walla yellow onions are sweeter and perfect on top, as well.

Assemble And Bake Philly Cheesesteak Pizza

Now Ill walk you through using a pizza stone to cook Philly pizza, but you can find directions on cooking pizza on a sheet pan in the recipe at the bottom of this page.

Help pizza dough rise in advance The morning-of making the pizza, move the dough from the fridge to a countertop. At a minimum, take the dough out of the fridge a couple of hours before making this pizza recipe .

Step 1. Preheat oven to 460ºF and preheat pizza stone. Consult your pizza stone to ensure the cooking temperature is safe and appropriate for your particular brand.

Step 2. Stretch the pizza dough. Check out the Sip Bite Go guide to stretching pizza dough for visuals or watch this pizza recipe video at the bottom of this page. There are also tips for you in the recipe card notes.

Step 3. Assemble pizza. Take the pizza stone out of the oven and brush half the olive oil on the pizza stone. Carefully add raw pizza to the hot pizza stone. Add the pizza toppings right on top of the raw pizza dough.

First, brush olive oil on the outside crust of the pizza in a circle shape. Then add sauce to the center of the raw pizza dough leaving 1 on the outside for the crust.

Sprinkle on the cheese. Top with cooked steak slices and sautéed onions and peppers.

Step 4. Bake pizza. Add pizza to the oven and bake at 460ºF for 10-15 minutes . Pizza is ready when cheese has completely melted and is starting to bubble. The bottom of the dough should be golden brown.
