How Long Can You Marinate A Ribeye Steak

To let the steak absorb the flavors from the seasoning, you have to at least marinate it for 30 minutes. This will get the seasonings to combine with the meat.

Since ribeye steaks are relatively more tender than most cuts, I suggest that you do not go over 3 hours of marinating or else, you will end up with a cut that is too soft.

Herbs De Provence Steak Seasoning

If you want aroma in your steak seasoning, then this is the one for you.

It is a combination of green spices that counter some of those unhealthy fats in the ribeye steak.

So combine two teaspoons of kosher salt, and a teaspoon of herbs de Provence, sugar, and black pepper in a bowl before rubbing it on the ribeye steak once it is ready.

If you want to make your own herbs de Provence mix, then just combine rosemary, basil, thyme, oregano, marjoram, tarragon, parsley, and fennel seed.

Can You Make A Grilled Ribeye Rub Beforehand

You most definitely can. The Montreal blend used for this grilled ribeye recipe can actually be kept at room temperature indefinitely, so long as its kept in a cool, dry place.

You can even apply the rub and refrigerate overnight. It wont be a dry marinade at that point, but thats okay. The result will be the same, and youll get the same crust and sear.

How Do You Season Steak

Fireman Bob

Steak should always be seasoned generouslyreally generously. Youre going to need to sprinkle on more salt than you think is appropriate because you want it to completely cover the steak. Sprinkle the salt from above for more even coverage. Its going to seem like overkill, but seriously just keep salting. Once youve salted your steak, gently press the crystals into the meat with your hands to help them adhere. If youre making a really thin cut of steak, like skirt steak, dont salt as heavily, but if youre making a 2-inch-thick, bone-in porterhouse , then keep salting. You want the salt to flavor the whole thing.

Grilled Ribeye With Simple Spice Rub

Grilled Ribeye with Simple Spice Rub is so easy to make for a summer meal! An easy blend of cumin and garlic seals in the big flavors of the ribeye steak for a delicious main course. Looking for an easy recipe to make for Dad on Fathers Day? Save this one! Read on for details, or or jump directly ahead to the recipe.

The theme of this weeks Sunday Supper, hosted by Sue from Palatable Pastime, is Throw something on the barbie. That title suggests to me carefree summer cooking, and it doesnt get much easier than our Grilled Ribeye with Simple Spice Rub.

The cooking maxim let quality ingredients shine certainly comes into play with grilled ribeye. Ribeye is marbled with just enough fat to deliver great flavor without doing much to it. Just a little rub to seal in and enhance the natural flavors is all you need then cook it just right. In other words, dont overcook it and lose all the great flavor!

How To Do It

Theres one important word youll need to know when it comes to seasoning seared or grilled ribeye steak: generously. You should get into the habit of seasoning generously with steak, rather than sprinkling salt and pepper here and there. Steaks love a good seasoning, and your taste buds will appreciate it even more.

When you season ribeye, add plenty of seasoning enough that you can plainly see it on the surface. Because its a thicker steak, youll want extra seasoning, as it sits on the outside of the steak rather than inside. When you bite into the steak, the extra seasoning on the outside will also help flavor the rest of the bite that doesnt have seasoning on it.

Keep your seasonings in a bowl and pinch a portion with your fingers. Then, sprinkle it generously all over the steak on all sides. Make sure you get around the edges, too. Press the seasoning gently into the meat to help it adhere.

How To Reverse Sear On A Gas Grill

  • On a three or more burner grill, turn on one burner to low or medium low heat.
  • Place wood chips in a foil pouch on the grill grates over the flame.
  • Place meat on indirect side. Close lid. Try to keep the temperature of the gas grill under 250 degrees, its tough as they have a lot of venting, so adjust your flame as needed. When the meat internal temperature reaches 110 degrees, you can remove the foil wood pouch.
  • Next, crank up heat to high and finish with that sear.
  • Remove when internal temperature of meat is to your desired doneness.

    Seasoning Your Steaks In Advance

If you’re ok with starting early and want to give this method a try, here’s how: Pat the meat dry with paper towels and sprinkle both sides of the steaks generously with Kosher salt. Be sure to get the salt on the edges of the steaks as well. That’s 1½ inches of surface you definitely want to cover. Press the salt crystals into the meat with your hands.

Transfer the steaks to cooling racks with a sheet pan or cookie sheet underneath, cover the whole tray with plastic wrap and stick them in the fridge, for up to 24 hours. Take them out about 30 minutes before cooking, pat them dry again with paper towels , season with freshly ground black pepper , and then grill as you normally would. The reason to pat them is that a dry steak will form a browner crust when it’s cooked.

What Is The Best Way To Tenderize A Ribeye Steak

Ribeye steaks are not usually too tough, but there are instances where it can get too hard that the rub does not get into the meat. There is a simple solution to this problem.

You can use a meat tenderizer to make the ribeye softer but the safest way to do this, in my opinion, is to simply rub a tablespoon of kosher salt on each side of the steak.

Use your hands to press the salt into the meat to break down the meats connective tissues and fibers. This will help the ribeye steak become more tender when cooking.

Many grilling enthusiasts argue that charcoal grills are a better alternative for grilling steaks as opposed to gas or electric grills, but why? When you cook on a charcoal grill, youll enjoy a full smoky flavor, which you just cant get with the other grilling options. Its also much easier to achieve a nice thick crust on the steak.
