For instance, a three to five-pound steak at Sams Club sells around $45, for an average of $9 per pound. Costcos steak average per pound is almost $10 with prices ranging around $170 for 16 pounds of steak. A Rastelli USDA Choice 16 pre-cut steaks of 10 ounces, can be bought for $170.
A USDA Prime thick cut of 1 pound can cost from $15 to $17, while for a USDA Choice you can pay less than $10 for the same quantity.
You can also buy at $16 per pound, 14 days aged ribeye steak from the HEB grocery store.
Depending on the franchise and the geographical location, eating ribeye steak at a local restaurant will pull out of your pocket from $1.60 to $2.80 per ounce. This will be the costliest choice but will keep your hands clean and the steak safe from a possible wrong cooking recipe.

As mentioned, Ribeye are not cheap. Well unless you buy them from Dollar Tree:
Saw this banner hanging up at the front door of my local Dollar Tree store. It’s for a 3.5oz frozen Rib eye steak for $1. Bravo to them for finding a way to bring Ribeye into their store of cheap goods. Cheap doesn’t often equal good.
This post will be your guide to finding a Ribeye steak for a good price. Notice I didn’t say the cheapest price – we already know who won that one. I am defining a good price as being the price you pay for a good, not necessarily top of the line steak.

Shoppers Notice Rising Food Prices
Cindy Carter routinely shops three local stores Food Lion in Tellico Village to Ingles and Aldi in Lenoir City to find bargains on the items she wants.
Loudon County shoppers are feeling the impact of rising prices at local grocery stores.
And they also notice they cant always find what theyre looking for.
Supply chain hiccups and increased prices have become the norm following the shutdown of production plants, a shortage of workers due to COVID-19 and increased fuel costs.
Local shoppers said they can track the increase in prices by the decrease in their wallets. For some, higher costs lead to spending more. For others, increased prices mean buying less.
Oh Lordy yes. On just about everything, she said, emphasizing meat is especially pricey.
She said she has been looking for cheaper cuts of meat and buying more chicken when she can find it.
I tried to get chicken the other day and they ran out, Elmore said.
With a growing strain on finances, Elmore said she tries to use more coupons and looks for items on sale.
Most of the shelves at Food City were well stocked Friday morning. Meat, fish and poultry racks were full. Lean ground beef was priced at $4.49 per pound and prime top sirloin at $5.99 per pound. Salmon filets were going for $9.99 per pound. Reduced fat milk was $4.79 a gallon.
I still buy what I want, he said.
At Aldi in Lenoir City there was less of a selection on the shelves but buyers said they looked for better prices.
What Is A Good Price For Ribeye
I prefer to buy my meat where their is an actual butcher you could talk with. Sorry Trader Joe’s, you and your pre-packed meat are out.
Whole Foods Market does indeed have some good meat people, however that price tag is too hard to shallow. I like the dry aged concept, more on that in a moment.
Costco comes in at $9.99/lb. Costco cuts their beef in house. And you could dry aged them yourself. I have done dry aging with brisket and turkey before. Check out this video on the process below.

Food Lion Coupon Basics
Food Lion does not double coupons.
They have no limits on number of total number of coupons they will take, unless specified in the ad. You may only use a maximum of 10 coupons for the same item per customer. This includes coupons that are downloaded onto your personal MVP Card.
BOGO items ring up at half price so if you only buy 1, it rings at half price. You can use a coupon on each BOGO sale item.
You cannot use Food Lion store coupons and manufacturer’s coupons on the same item. “Stacking” coupons like that is not allowed per the Food Lion coupon policy.

E-Coupons: You can now load RedPlum.com manufacturers coupons to your Food Lion MVP card and when they scan your card at the register and you buy the qualifying items, the discount will come off automatically. I spoke with corporate and they confirmed that these are manufacturers coupons and not to be combined with paper manufacturers from the newspaper and other sources. Grades Of Beef And Prime Beef
One thing I wanted to point out is that Costco carry some prime beef. Most grocery stores don’t sell prime beef. Generally all you will find is choice beef, but some select in really cheap stores, but for the most part prime beef is used in restaurants.

What To Look For In A Ribeye
You want the Ribeye steak to be odorloess, bright in color, moist, and with plenty of marbling . Below you will see an example of some good marbling in a Ribeye.
These are beautiful Ribeye steaks. If you see them this good for a good price, don’t hesistate to buy them. These are Prime Ribeye steaks from Costco going for $13.99/lb. That is a high quality steak for the price of an average Ribeye at most grocery stores.
