Fogo De Cho Brazilian Steakhouse

The Best Steak In New York City | Best In Town

Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse.

This is the first steakhouse we went to in NYC and have kept coming back in the past few years. If you go on a weekend, its better to reserve in advance to avoid long lines. They accept reservations from groups of all sizes, even if you dine alone.

In addition to meat, there is a salad bar at one corner of the restaurant, where you can grab sushi, fruits like papaya, pineapple, and veggies like lettuce, broccoli, and many more to kick off your meal.

Once you sit down, the server will come over with grilled meat on a vertical spit. If you say yes, they will slice one piece off and put it on your plate. Simple.

Use the card on the table to signal your servers. The card has two sides with different colors on each: red and green. The green means Yeah, give me more meat! Bring it on! while the red says: I am done here, thank you.

Indoors, roasted prime rib, New York sirloin, ribeye, filet mignon and more are all grilled over blazing hickory coals giving them the distinct flavor diners have come to love over the last 90 odd years. Gallaghers started as a speakeasy in 1927, pulling in a crowd of Prohibition-era gamblers, sports figures, and Broadway stars before being converted to a traditional steakhouse in 1933 as liquor bans were lifted. In just the last couple of years, the steakhouse switched hands and new proprietor Dean Poll got to work restoring the joint to its former glory. Case in point? The dining rooms 14 iconic hickory log chandeliers which were just rehung.

Quality Eats West Village

Restaurateur Michael Stillman opened Quality Eats in November 2015 to much anticipation thanks to the success of its sister restaurant Quality Meats. Part of QEs attention-grabbing debut was also due to its highly affordable menu a direct result of opting for non-standard cuts. While you wont find any filet mignon or porterhouses on the roster, the bavette and top blade flatiron present two wallet-friendly , just as flavorful options. The chop shops decor also lends itself to avid instagrammers as it trades atypical masculine interiors for mod, somewhat cutesy decor a la whitewashed brick walls, doodle-decorated plates, comfy leather booths, and a drawing-engraved bar. If youre still on the fence, just know that baked potato monkey bread is available as a side.

Where To Eat Serious Steak Without Feeling Like An Old Man

7 Best Steakhouses in New York City

Were not big on the standard business class steakhouse. Here are our 12 favorite spots for when expensive meat eating needs to happen.

Heres what the weekday lunch situation looks like at The Infatuation: Around noon, we grab our briefcases and hop in a taxi to Smith & Wollensky. Once weve checked our tophats at coat check, we sometimes have a martini at thebar before sitting down, and then we usually order the Porterhouse for Two,but only one of us eats it. And then we always have the same argument aboutwhether to order the creamed spinach, but lets not get into that here. Its alovely affair, and we arrive back at the office at about 4pm, just beforecalling it a day.

So yeah, you could say steakhouses are our thing.

Just kidding.

But when the occasion does arise to go all out on a steak dinner, we ideallylike to do it in places where boxy suits are not the required uniform. Fortunately, there are a few excellent and not so stuffy places.

Flambéed tableside with herb butter and brandy, the American Cut steak needs no other additionsthough the sunchoked spinach and heirloom carrots with capers and chimichurri, both delicious, will at least allow you to check your vegetable box for the day.

Flat Iron Steak At The Tavern

$100 Wagyu TOMAHAWK Steak! BEST Steak in New York City!

What the flat iron may be lacking in experience , it makes up for in soft, melt-in-your-mouth tendernessthanks to painstaking in-house butchery. The 8-oz grass-fed cut comes to Hudson Yards via Painted Hills Natural Beef in Fossil, Oregon, at which point the connective tissue is removed with precision to reveal the most tender meat. Peter Luger Steak House

Peter Luger Steak House.

For over 133+ years, this Williamsburg spot has been the go-to spot for Brooklyn-ers to have a bite of that heavenly sizzling steak. It is undeniably a NYC classic and no steakhouse list is complete without it. No, I am not exaggerating.

Be sure to try their porterhouse, burger, and ice cream sundae. Old-school servers put thick slices of filet and sirloin on your plate and then spoon juices from the meat and melted butter on top. Yummy!

Note that it is cash and debit cards only. Right, no credit cards and everything seems to be a bit overpriced, and it is as legendary as it was, but still, it is one of the best.

Another draw of this place is that, unlike the clientele at a lot of Manhattan steakhouses, it is for everybody. From tourists taking pictures with the menu to executives talking about the deal they just closed, and more. No need to overdress, come in your normal clothes.
