You can cook grass fed steak on a stove top using pan sears. Youll need to start the sear before you begin to grill the steaks. Once youre ready to go, youll want to turn off the burner and cover the skillet with foil to keep the steam from escaping. Then, place the lid on top of this and cook the beef over medium heat for about 5 minutes per side. This will take care of any excess grease that may have built up on both sides of your steak during the cooking process. If you dont have a skillet, try using a cast iron skillet. Or, if your skillet is already seasoned, simply add a little olive oil to it and put it over the hot pan. Cook the onions and peppers until they are tender, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and saute for another minute or two.

Sauté the steaks on both sides in olive oil until browned. Then remove the meat from skillet and place it back in saucepan. Add the wine and cook until reduced by half. Season with pepper. Serve the sauce over the cooked meat. This is a great way to add flavor to any meat dish. You can also use this sauce to make a marinade for chicken. If you dont want to use the marinating time, you could simply pour the liquid over top of sliced meat and let it sit for about 10 minutes before serving.

Top sirloin, located between the tender shortloin and the tougher butt, or round, of the steer is a moderately tender steak. It is significantly more tender than the rump or round, but not as tender as the more marbled New York strip or tenderloin. Is it true that an inebriated English king, after consuming a lovely meal built around top sirloin, actually knighted that portion of loin? Hence, Sir Loin?

Unfortunately, Sir Loin is indeed the stuff of carnivore legends. If that indeed was true, he would have been married to Lady Coulette . In truth, the name does come from the ancient Middle Englishsurloine, which itself was derived from the Old French word surlonge, meaning sur la longe or above the loin according to the perhaps trustworthy Wikipedia.

Soknow that some folks even go so far as to call the center cut top sir as a Delmonico or even the coveted Chauteaubriandthese also are legends, lies and misnomers. Given all the nomenclature varieties, the top sir is a nice cut, but needs some special care when heat is applied.

Use a skillet with the edges slightly brown when cooking steaks. Cook the meat on both sides until brown and cooked through, 5 to 6 minute per inch of thickness. Then turn and finish cooking the opposite side. This will ensure that the outside of all sides are cooked evenly. You can cook this in batches if needed. If you do not have a large skillet, you may need to cook two steers at once. For medium rare, cook 1 inch thick steak for 6 to 8 minutes on each side, depending on how well done you like it. To cook rare , cook 2 inches thick steak for 8 to 10 minutes on either side this will result in extra tenderness. When finished, remove from heat and set aside. Serve with butter and a salad. Garnish with chopped parsley. Serves 4. Recipe by: Jennifer L.

For medium 2 12 inch sesame seed steaks, cook time will be around 3 minutes for each side, using a skillet. Flip the steak after cooking for about 5 seconds. Let the meat rest for five minutes while you slice it thinly. Then, slice the beef thinly and serve hot. Sesame seeds are great for seasoning and adding a little crunch to any dish. You can also sprinkle them on top of your steamed vegetables or salads. They are also great when used in place of butter. To toast sesamum seeds, put them in small dry skillet and toast over medium heat until golden brown. Or, you could use a dry frying pan and add the seeds to it and cook until lightly browned.

Let the steak rest at low tempurature for about 15 mins. preheat the broiler pan to high. seasoning the outside of every steak with salt and pepper lightly. put the cooked meat on top of each steak. broil to desired doneness. serve with baked potato, peas, corn, greens, etc. paraphrasihing: let the roast rest means preheat oven to 350 degrees.broil refers to cooking the raw meat until it reaches the desired internal temperature. donescerer is a term used to describe the cooking process. This is done by placing the sliced meat directly on a hot surface, such as the stovetop, which cooks the exterior while the interior is kept warm. Once the internal temperatures of both the outer and inner portions of meat reach the preferred level, either side will be done. If the inside portion is too dry, add a little more water. For example, if the center portion of a steak is medium-rare, you would add 1/2 cup of water to make it medium. As the external portion becomes medium rare, increase the amount of liquid to 2/3 cup. When the entire piece of steak reaches medium well, remove it from the oven and allow it to rest uncovered for 5 minutes. Remove the pan from under the heat source and let it sit for another 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Then slice the remaining meat off the bone and serve. Note: If you are using a meat thermometer, check the temperature of any meat you plan to serve immediately after removing it form the refrigerator.

    Does Worcestershire Tenderize Meat

No, this is really a terrible idea. Worchestershire is actually a very strong acid, making it a bad idea for cooking purposes. You should only use it when you want to tenderize meat. If youre using it to make a marinade, you should use a neutral liquid such as water or wine. For cooking, try using a milder sauce, suchas a light soy sauce. This will help prevent the sauce from becoming too strong.

Sous Vide Grass Fed Top Sirloin Steak

Tonight Im lagging because Im returning to work after having 3 weeks off. Argh! As a result, for dinner I made lots of veggies and a big sous vide grass fed top sirloin steak so Id have lots of leftovers to pack for work.

In preparation for my workweek, I started sous viding like a mad woman on Tuesday morning. I laid out all my proteins on my kitchen counter and seasoned and vacuum sealed them with my Foodsaver. I try to combine as many meats as possible that cook at the same temp, so I set my SousVide Supreme to 140 F and plopped in 4 seasoned pork chops and 2 bone-in, skin on chicken breasts. After they had cooked for 2.5 hours, I took them out and placed them in an ice bath so I could store them in the fridge for later in the week. I added cold water and turned down the temp to 120 F to cook my frozen wild sockeye salmon for lunch. After taking out the salmon, I increased the water temp to 130 F and dunked in my grass fed top sirloin steak which I seasoned with Sagemary finishing salt and pepper.

The steak was going to cook in the SousVide Supreme for about 30 hours and I was going to take it out at dinner time on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, I cooked the worlds best braised cabbage and prepared some cauliflower, garlic, and bacon that I was going to roast off when I woke up. I stored the vege and swine bits in a Ziploc bag in the fridge.

Voila! All of this was on the table within 1 hour and I have 3 boxes of lunch in the fridge .

You Know What Else I Love

    Grass

Grass fed beef delivered to my door from ButcherBox .

I know beef companies proudly tout corn fed like its a good thing, but its not. Corn is not a cows natural food, grass is. Corn and other grains make cows sick and when they get sick they are pumped with antibiotics, which are passed right along to you. In fact, conventional grain-fed beef is twice as likely to contain dangerous bacteria resistant to antibiotics than grass fed beef. No bueno.

Grass fed cows make superior meat too. Yep, it tastes better and is better for you. The meat from grass fed cows is higher in the healthy omega 3 fats and lower in the inflammation causing omega 6 fats. And its nice to know these cows live a better life than those that live in overcrowded feedlots.
