How To Grill Steak:

$100 2-inch THICK steaks ON THE GRILL! (NEW!)

1. Season the meat and allow it to rest before grilling!

You can use a wet marinade , or a simple dry seasoning to add flavor to your steak. Allow the steaks to rest at room temperature at least 15-20 minutes before grilling and season them about 10-15 minutes before grilling.

2. Clean and oil your grill.

Turn your charcoal or gas grill to high and heat it for about 10-15 minutes before you start cooking. If you have a temperature gauge on your grill, look for it to reach about 450-500ºF. Otherwise, observe the coals or gas heat level to see if the coals are barely covered with ash or hold your hand over the heat and you shouldnt be able to handle it for more than about 3-4 seconds.

Use a grill brush to brush away any chunks of charred meat and drippings. To prevent the steak from sticking to the grill, soak a paper towel with some vegetable oil and use tongs to rub it gently over the grill rack.

3. Sear and cook: only flip once!

The cook time of your steak will largely depend on the thickness of the steak. Heres a rough guide but use a thermometer for more accurate internal temperatures.

  • 1 inch thick : grill 3-7 minutes per side depending on desired doneness.
  • 1 ¼ inch thick : grill 8-10 minutes per side depending on desired doneness.

Only flip steaks one time during cooking.

4. Use a thermometer to check for doneness.

5. Let it rest.

  • Remove steak and let rest 3-5 minutes.
  • How To Cook 2 Inch Thick Steak In The Oven

Cooking a thick 2 inch steak in the oven is a great way to do it if you use marinades or other ingredients. I like to cook my steaks with potatoes, carrots, peppers, onions and garlic. For fat I use oils or butter. It creates a very flavorful, tender and juicy steak along with some great vegetables. Its also an easier cooking method because once you put the meat in the oven you dont have to do much until its done.

    After Grilling

    • Rest your steaks for 5-10 minutes before serving. Cover them lightly with foil. The temperature of the meat will continue to rise about 5°F during this time. This is called carryover cooking. The final temperature should read 135°F.
    • Resting steak is important because the heat pulls juices in the meat toward the surface. If you slice into the steak immediately after cooking, those flavorful juices will end up on your plate, not in your steak. Letting your steak rest will give the juices time to settle throughout the meat, keeping it moist and flavorful.

When it comes to grilling a steak, there is one question that is impossible to answer. That is, how long does a 2 inch steak need to cook? A 3-inch steak would take longer to cook than a 2-inch steak, but it would also be a lot thicker. So, how long does a 2-inch steak need to cook? The short answer to that question is a lot longer than most people think. It would likely take a couple hours, but it really depends on how you cook it.

Is It Important To Let The Steaks Rest

Yes. The steak actually continues to cook during those few minutes. This continuation of cooking is great because it doesnt dry out the steak, as it would by simply leaving it on the grill longer. Cutting into the steak interrupts that last little period of cooking by releasing the heat inside the steak. Trust me, let it rest a few minutes and your steak will turn out perfect.

How To Cook A 2 Inch Thick Cheap Steak At Home

How to Grill the Perfect Steak | Weber Genesis II Gas Grill | BBQGuys Recipe

Considering todays groceries and meat prices, theres really no such thing as a cheap steak anymore. But theres definitely a big difference in price between the filets I buy at a butcher and the cuts I buy at Walmart. And theres a difference in quality too.

More expensive cuts of steak tend are generally more tender and have marbled fat. Cheaper steaks have more bone, gristle, fat, sinew, etc. The fat is in bigger chunks and theres usually no marbling. These difference result in a less flavorful steak thats dryer and tougher.

But you can overcome these draw backs if you no how. here are some tips.

    • Cook the steak in the exact same way so matter how much it costs. Thaw the meat, then season, sear, slow cook and let it rest.
    • The difference comes in the preparation. If a cut is tougher you need to tenderize the meat before cooking it. Pound the meat with a tenderizer to loosen up the muscle. You can also let it bathe in a soda bath overnight.
    • Because the meat is dryer you can compensate by adding fats and moisture. Cook with butter or oil. Use a marinade before and during cooking. Or use a sauce. Personally I love my steak with ketchup or A1 steak sauce.
    • Cook the steak in the oven with other ingredients that produce water. I cook my steaks with peppers, onions, carrots, garlic and potatoes. Spoon the gravy over the steak as it cooks.
    • Serve the steak with a salad. The dressing will provide some moisture to the steak.

Dont hide behind anything. On order to achieve the perfect medium-rare steak, sear it in a pan for 12-14 minutes for a 1-inch steak and 14-16 minutes for a 112-inch steak, flipping it once at the halfway mark. A meat thermometer should read 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover your steaks with aluminum foil for 5 minutes before serving to allow them to rest.

What Is The Cheapest Cut Of Steak

There is no single answer to this question, as the price of different cuts of steak can vary significantly depending on factors such as the type of cut, how it was prepared, and where you are buying it from. Some of the cheapest options include flank steak or skirt steak, which are typically used for making fajitas and stir-fries. You may also be able to find inexpensive chuck or round roasts at your local butcher shop or grocery store. However, keep in mind that prices can fluctuate throughout the year depending on supply and demand. So if youre looking for a good deal on steak, try shopping during sales or waiting until closer to grilling season when prices tend to go down. Regardless of what cut of steak you choose, just be sure to cook it properly and enjoy!

    How To Grill Steak Perfectly

First you are going to want to pick your cut of meat. Now, everyone loves a good filet mignon, I am not exception. The other go-to is a New York Strip classic. But, my absolute favorite is a ribeye. There is just enough fat marbled through it that it marinates itself as it cooks and stays incredibly moist and tender. The flavor is amazing. It is my go-to. Go grab a 1 inch ribeye for you and whoever else you are having over..

But Filet Mignon is hard to beat!

Next, after you go out and grab your cut of meat, you are going to want to let it come to room temp before you season your meat. Just salt and pepper people. You dont need to reinvent the wheel. But first, take a fork and pierce the meat all over fat and everything. Then sprinkle with salt and ground black pepper on both sides enough that it will be nicely seasoned, but not over-powered with either.

You can also if you want always fun to mix things up!

After you have cleaned your grill thoroughly with your brush, spray it with a grill-worthy non-stick spray and then turn it up to 450-500.

Place steak over direct heat to sear let it stay over direct heat for 3-4 minutes. Flip and sear an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side. If you are cooking a fattier meat, like a ribeye, you will probably want to move the steak over to indirect heat at this time. Leaner meats, like a New York Strip or Filet should be left over direct heat the entire time.

How Long Should A Steak Rest For

If you are cooking the steak at home, you can rest it for anywhere between 5-30 minutes. This will depend largely on how long it takes your meat to cook through and also on how thick the cut is. If you have a thicker steak, such as a ribeye or porterhouse, then its best to wait until it has rested for at least 10-15 minutes before cutting into it. This allows the juices to flow more evenly throughout the meat so that every bite tastes just as delicious as the first!

How To Make My Steak Juicy And Tender

  • : it is so nice to add in that little extra flavor!
  • Pierce with fork : this isnt necessary, but piercing the steak with a fork to create some tiny holes allows either your salt and pepper or your marinade to penetrate the meat much faster.
  • Sear on both sides: The sear is the key and then you can move to indirect heat to finish cooking. This seals in all those juices and leaves a nice char on the outside.
  • Do NOT over-cook: remember that your steak will continue to cook after you take it off the grill, so really you should shoot for about 5 degrees under where you ultimately want to be when you take the steaks off the grill.
  • Let rest: Your steak will continue to raise about 5 degrees while resting and this allows the juices to redistribute evenly throughout the piece of steak so when you do cut into it, it will be juicy and perfect! Then slice against the grain into nice thick slices.
