Operations May Be Disrupted Due To Covid

Fine dining at Ruth’s Chris may be experienced via dinner with a significant other, business colleagues or family members celebrating a special occasion. There are still hints of New Orleans swagger, like the Broad Street Hurricane with 23-year-old Zacapa Centenario rum or the barbecued shrimp thats memorable for its presentation and flavor. Most portions are immense, even by St. Louis standards — the greaseless shoestring potatoes are enough for the entire table. The quality of the featured steaks is first-rate, whether or not they’re topped with the house’s lily-gilding butter. Bread pudding with whiskey sauce is probably the way founder Ruth Fertel made it at home, a simple dessert after a good meal. The by-the-glass wine list is heavy on American labels, and though theyre perfectly fine, the selection of bottles is more notable, including a lovely amontillado for dessert. This Ruth’s Chris location is situated among the power brokers in central Clayton their counterparts downtown can visit 315 Chestnut St., Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront, 314-259-3200.

Reviews For Ruth’s Chris Steak House

I had an amazing experience dining at Ruth’s Chris in downtown STL. The food was amazing but the service was outstanding!!! Our waiter Killian was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu! He went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our experience. I can’t wait to go back!!!!!!

The experience was great at this restaurant, delicious food, awesome drinks, and one of the most amazing and hospitable waitresses that I have ever met! I had joined a couple of ladies here for dinner last night and had one of the most amazing dining experiences. Thank you for making this a wonderful evening!

Founded By The Kreis Family In 1948

Ruth

The establishment began as a small roadhouse restaurant in the countryside. Mrs. Kreis home cooking soon became the favorite among those traveling along Highway 67. The Kreis family operated Kreis’ until their retirement in the 1960s.

They offered to lease Kreis’ to Jack Kane, their country club manager, while retaining ownership. He successfully ran and enhanced the business, introducting the enormous portion of Prime Rib of Beef, a signature dish which the restaurant still prides itself on.

Kreis’ served as a comfortable and familiar gathering place. The consistency and quality of Kreis ensured generations of loyal clientele. Helen Kane remained operator until the Kreis family decided to sell the business and property to the Tompras brothers in 1983.

The combination of Byrons expertise and knowledge of the food industry and Tykes managerial skills were the keys to Kreis success. In 1984, a fire burned a large portion of the restaurant. Kreis’ used this opportunity to rebuild, expand, and bring the kitchen up to the restaurant level. This accommodated the booming business Kreis’ was experiencing.

Since 1990, Byrons two children, George Tompras and Renee Tompras Bogdanos have operated Kreis’, expanding the menu to keep pace with modern demands while adhering to the tradition for quality, consistency, service, and innovation that made Kreis famous.

This is a review for steakhouses in Saint Louis, MO:

“We were staying at the Hyatt so this was a great place to go to since it was right downstairs. I haven’t been to a Ruth’s Chris in some time but it was great and Austin was attentive as well.We ordered a glass of the Leese-Fitch Pinot Noir which was a very easy to drink red. My boyfriend also ordered the Dark & Stormy cocktail which came in a large glass and was also very good. For the appetizer, we got the Lobster Voo Doo which was small Fried bites of Lobster in a spicy sauce. Pretty good kick to it. For dinner, we split the porterhouse for 2 and it was cooked very well and had great flavor. Also got a side of the sweet potato mash which was also delicious.Overall a good experience.”
