Since 1948, this family-run steakhouse has been whipping up the heartiest dinners in all of Missouri. Not only does this cosy neighbourhood spot make everyone feel right at home, they also serve the best lamb chops in town. Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar St Louis

Bourbon and steak. Is there any better pair? We think not. At Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar, they combine the very best of sizzling prime cuts and brown spirits. Even better? Its all farm to table. Load up on their winter harvest salad to start. Then move on to the 22 oz bone-in ribeye seasoned with their house rub and served with whatever side you like, but we know the obvious choice is the roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Dont forget to ask for a bourbon or rye pairing to bring it all full circle.

More than any other restaurant concept, the steakhouse has persevered in spite of old-school baggage: dark wood, low lighting, high prices, humongous side dishes, Pleistocene hunks of meatand few other menu options. In SLMs first-ever roundup of the top local steakhouses , we discovered that stodgy reputation is no longer deserved. The newest contenders are contemporary yet classy, while Als Restaurant, the oldest and most traditional, now offers a de rigueur prix fixe menu and even Wine Wednesdays. Herein, SLM weighs in on both independent and chain steakeries. Go ahead and dig inas with the perfect tenderloin filet, you wont even need a knife.

    Porters Steakhouse

Instead of a dessert cart, Porters has a wine cart and an easygoing sommelier who offers no-obligation samples from a serious list. Remodeling has made things comfy, and the hotel location, serving three meals a day, means the kitchen has perked up and improved on one-time Tenderloin Room classics like Senate bean soup and pepperloin steak. Porters also understands rare, and shows a good touch with appetizers. Gone are the giant slabs of dessert, replaced by plenty of nonclichéd choices. Drink Pairing Tips For Steak

    The Best Steak House
    • A next-level pairing for Zinfandel

When ordering beef burger, experts suggest pairing it with a glass of Zinfandel, a popular red wine.

    • Sauvignon Blanc with your pork ribs with a barbecue rub

A pork ribs with a barbecue rub can be tricky to find a white wine pairing for. We would suggest trying Sauvignon Blanc. It will pair nicely with the food and complete the meal thanks to its acidic.

I will never visit this restaurant again or any of the sister restaurantsManager and sever poor customer n service.

Ate here for lunch during the week. Upscale atmosphere, yet cozy and comfortable. Great menu. A little pricey for lunch, but excellent food and service.

Love this place. I eat here frequently . Great food, great desserts, great staff. Always busy.

We stopped for lunch and were extremely pleased. A neat, updated atmosphere. Pleasant and attentive staff. And the food was really good. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the brisket ravioli but they were great. I was disappointed in the onion rings as they…were cool and tough. But everything else was above par and I would go back again.More

    Best Steakhouses In St Louis

    The Best Steak House
  • Annie Gunns
  • The first steakhouse on our list is Annie Gunns! Their Annual Cigar Smoker Dinner is one of the many reasons why I love this particular steakhouse. Premium cigars are presented and enjoyed coupled with fine wines and some of the most terrific food I have ever tasted.

Look for Annie Gunns right on Chesterfield Airport Road, right across the street from the Chesterfield Outlets shopping mall and Topgolf. Perfect for a delicious steak dinner in St Louis.

For those of you that like surf n turf, youll love Annie Gunns Shore Dinner. Its fried to a crispy perfection like no other.

The next one on my list is the 801 Chophouse. This steakhouse is located near the Clayton Business District, which makes it a top destination. With an award-winning wine list and some of the finest USDA prime steak in town, 801 Chophouse should be on every steak lovers list of top destinations.

If you have ever wanted to feel like youre eating in a high-end steakhouse in 1920s New York, you have two options: you can go to New York, or you can come down to St. Louis, Missouri, and try out the 801 Chophouse! The filet mignon is superb as is the 36 oz. Porterhouse.

Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar

2101 Chouteau Ave, St. Louis, MO 63103Phone: 314-241-2333

Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar is a special place. They really appreciate the connection between bourbon and steakhouses. Youll find no shortage of fine bourbons here, and the steaks are very flavorful.

With excellent bourbons like Old Forester Signature and Bowman Brothers Small Batch, theres something for everyone here. Of course, you could always have an ice-cold beer or a glass of wine instead.

The Kansas City Strip is a great value for the price. Nothing compares to the incredible flavor of this spectacular meal. The ribeye at Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar was also good here. Try it for yourself!

Last but not least on my list of the best steakhouses in St. Louis, Missouri, is the Twisted Tree Steakhouse. Meet casual dining with a fancy twist, thats the Twisted Tree Steakhouse in a nutshell, and I love it!

The toasted brisket ravioli was better than I ever could have expected, as was the twisted shrimp and the NY Strip. When I came back for more, I had the Hog Chop, a 14 oz. piece of heaven cooked in a maple syrup reduction. The sauerkraut paired with it beautifully. This place is definitely one of the best steakhouses in the city.

    Best Steak In St Louis

Coming to STL for a long overdue, post-vaccination visit with friends and family. I want to celebrate with them with an amazing steak au Poivre. What restaurant has the best slab of meat in STL these days? Who has the beef!?

    Thanks for the suggestions.

FWIW, I have been to every place, multiple times. It’s the nature of my work.

My personal favorite is Citizen Kane’s but there are many good ones, so I’m not really going to shit on any except:

I think Twisted Tree is overrated.

On straight bang for the buck in a casual setting if you don’t want steakhouse prices, you can’t go wrong with Tuckers.

EDIT: I should add that I have never been to Carnivore or Annie Gunn’s which other people are suggesting, but I’ll try to knock them both out this month.

The 7 Best Steakhouses In St Louis

BySara Graham onThu, Jul 23, 2015 at 8:16 am

What makes a perfect steak? Certainly, the quality of the meat is fundamental. Many of the best steakhouses in the country only serve the highest grade of beef available in the United States USDA Prime that features extensive marbling and melt-in-your mouth texture. Only 1-3% of all beef produced in the country is rated Prime. Others contend the breed, age and diet of the cow are the most critical elements. A dry- or wet-aging process brings out flavor and tenderness and is truly an art. And, without a doubt, the expert flick of the chef’s wrist and precise timing at the grill is where the alchemy really begins. We’ve got the bite on where to go for an exceptional steak in St. Louis.

    J. Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks and Seafood

    J. Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks and Seafood serves up prime steakhouse fare modeled after the highly regarded Kansas City steakhouses of the 1920s. All steaks are USDA Prime, Midwestern-raised, wet-aged black Angus beef, sourced from farms promoting humane management with no use of antibiotics or growth hormones. The secret to their robust flavor might be in the house-made seasoning, which includes fresh ground coffee beans and brown sugar. The steaks top sirloin, Kansas City strip, porterhouse, bone-in ribeye “cowboy cut” or a center-cut filet mignon are then seared and cooked over mesquite wood.

The Best St. Louis Style Pork Steaks, Homemade Baked Beans | Smoking with Grilla Grills

This mid-priced steakhouse is famous for serving steakhouse staples with its New York strip being described as outstanding. Another dish on their menu that is worthy of mention is their shrimp cocktail as people come from far and wide to sample this dish. Diners enjoy the relaxed and homely environment at Citizen Kanes Steak House. It is a converted Victorian house located on West Clinton PI in Kirkwood, St. Louis. One aspect of eating at this establishment that has been noted by former customers is that the prices are much lower than the quality of the food would suggest. It is open from 5 pm until late except on Mondays when this restaurant is closed.
