Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar

St. Louis Proud: The Best Steak House

2101 Chouteau Ave, St. Louis, MO 63103Phone: 314-241-2333

Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar is a special place. They really appreciate the connection between bourbon and steakhouses. Youll find no shortage of fine bourbons here, and the steaks are very flavorful.

With excellent bourbons like Old Forester Signature and Bowman Brothers Small Batch, theres something for everyone here. Of course, you could always have an ice-cold beer or a glass of wine instead.

The Kansas City Strip is a great value for the price. Nothing compares to the incredible flavor of this spectacular meal. The ribeye at Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar was also good here. Try it for yourself!

Last but not least on my list of the best steakhouses in St. Louis, Missouri, is the Twisted Tree Steakhouse. Meet casual dining with a fancy twist, thats the Twisted Tree Steakhouse in a nutshell, and I love it!

The toasted brisket ravioli was better than I ever could have expected, as was the twisted shrimp and the NY Strip. When I came back for more, I had the Hog Chop, a 14 oz. piece of heaven cooked in a maple syrup reduction. The sauerkraut paired with it beautifully. This place is definitely one of the best steakhouses in the city.

# 5 Citizen Kanes Steak House

After dark, the outside of the restaurant is decorated with Christmas lights. It looks like youre walking into someones house, but the sign outside the restaurant lets you know youre in the right place. The owners have their menu set up so you can see what you would eat before walking inside. The inside makes you feel like you have been invited to a fancy dinner at a friends house. Its heartwarming, with lights on the walls making the place brighter.

One of the many dishes you can order is the filet mignon. Its a tender and juicy cut of meat marinated to perfection. For the price, you can also choose a side dish and their soup of the day or a salad. A pork chop is also a good choice. Its a thick, tender pork chop served with horseradish sauce and an apple ring. Its delicious.

Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar St Louis

Bourbon and steak. Is there any better pair? We think not. At Hamiltons Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar, they combine the very best of sizzling prime cuts and brown spirits. Even better? Its all farm to table. Load up on their winter harvest salad to start. Then move on to the 22 oz bone-in ribeye seasoned with their house rub and served with whatever side you like, but we know the obvious choice is the roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Dont forget to ask for a bourbon or rye pairing to bring it all full circle.

Ruths Chris Steak House

Hyatt Hotel, 315 Chestnut St, St. Louis, MO 63102Phone: 314-259-3200

Ruths Chris Steak House has one of the richest varieties of food to choose from that I encountered during my stay in St. Louis. The hospitality of the staff is exemplary, and the chefs are truly inspired.

The petite filet with shrimp was my absolute favorite meal here. You get two perfectly cooked 4 oz. Medallions with six large juicy shrimp. If you have room for it, youll also want to try the 22 oz. Cowboy Ribeye, a prime cut that is out of this world!

I admit I was hesitant to put this one on the list because I almost wanted to keep it to myself. This place is one of the best-kept secrets in St. Louis, but the food is so good, I just had to share it.

Sams Steakhouse is one of the finest St Louis steak restaurants that I encountered in my travels throughout this exciting and flavorful city. As soon as I drove up to the place I had a feeling that I was in for a treat, and was I ever!

Starting off with Lobster Bisque with Lobster Tempura was the perfect beginning to a long and enjoyable meal. I finished up with their Center-Cut Filet Mignon. For dessert, I tried the Caramel Bread Pudding and would say that it was one of the best-tasting desserts Ive had the pleasure of sampling in many years.

Theyre located inside The Plaza & Shoppes shopping center, just south of Kirkland Commons on South Lindbergh Boulevard.

# 7 The Tenderloin Room

Walking into the building will make you feel like youre walking into a hotel. The entranceway, alone, is enough to keep you in the building and coming back. Its that nice. This restaurant has a valet service, making the place fancy and elegant. The chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and the candles in a beautiful candle holder on each table symbolize the sleek vibe.

The food matches the elegant vibe the restaurant has. The 10 oz filet mignon is an excellent choice. It looks great, smells great, and is plated so beautifully that you wouldnt want to eat it. The filet mignon is thick and juicy. It is also layered with their special seasonings. Chicken is everyones favorite meal, and this restaurant sells half a chicken meal. The chicken meal is crispy, juicy, and well-executed. The food is so good you may want to purchase extra food to take home for another night.

Best Steak House | Living St. Louis

First time visit, but certainly not the last!Service and ambience were great! Food was outstanding! My prime rib melt was juicy, tender, perfectly cooked and huge! . I do believe it was the best primerib sandwich Ive ever had. My husbands pork tenderloin was tasty and equally as huge!Fries were crispy and well seasoned. A definite do-over the highest rating we give!More

I will never visit this restaurant again or any of the sister restaurantsManager and sever poor customer n service.

Ate here for lunch during the week. Upscale atmosphere, yet cozy and comfortable. Great menu. A little pricey for lunch, but excellent food and service.

Love this place. I eat here frequently . Great food, great desserts, great staff. Always busy.

We stopped for lunch and were extremely pleased. A neat, updated atmosphere. Pleasant and attentive staff. And the food was really good. I wasnt sure what to expect from the brisket ravioli but they were great. I was disappointed in the onion rings as theywere cool and tough. But everything else was above par and I would go back again.More

Drink Pairing Tips For Steak

  • A next-level pairing for Zinfandel

When ordering beef burger, experts suggest pairing it with a glass of Zinfandel, a popular red wine.

  • Sauvignon Blanc with your pork ribs with a barbecue rub

A pork ribs with a barbecue rub can be tricky to find a white wine pairing for. We would suggest trying Sauvignon Blanc. It will pair nicely with the food and complete the meal thanks to its acidic.

Freshest Steaks: The Block

The Block has an onsite butcher, so you know that their steaks are as fresh as possible! In addition to its in-house butchered cut, you can also enjoy pork chops, chicken, burgers, and sandwiches. I particularly love their garlic herb fries and cocktails during happy hour as well!

Make sure to save room for dessert- The Block has cobbler, brownies, and a terrific chocolate chip skillet cookie.

  • Annie Gunns
  • The first steakhouse on our list is Annie Gunns! Their Annual Cigar Smoker Dinner is one of the many reasons why I love this particular steakhouse. Premium cigars are presented and enjoyed coupled with fine wines and some of the most terrific food I have ever tasted.

Look for Annie Gunns right on Chesterfield Airport Road, right across the street from the Chesterfield Outlets shopping mall and Topgolf. Perfect for a delicious steak dinner in St Louis.

    Best Steak In St Louis

Coming to STL for a long overdue, post-vaccination visit with friends and family. I want to celebrate with them with an amazing steak au Poivre. What restaurant has the best slab of meat in STL these days? Who has the beef!?

    Thanks for the suggestions.

FWIW, I have been to every place, multiple times. Its the nature of my work.

I think Twisted Tree is overrated.

On straight bang for the buck in a casual setting if you dont want steakhouse prices, you cant go wrong with Tuckers.

EDIT: I should add that I have never been to Carnivore or Annie Gunns which other people are suggesting, but Ill try to knock them both out this month.

    Cheap Eats: Carl’s Drive In

Since 1959, Carls Drive-In has been the spot for a quick burger, fries and a tall, cold glass of root beer, and the best part is that prices havent changed much since then! Seriously, where else can you get a triple cheeseburger for $7? Granted, Carls is home to the thinnest, crispiest patties in the world, but its still quite the deal. Add to that a basket of onion rings for $2.50 and a 24-ounce mug of root beer for another $2.00 and youve got yourself a meal that will keep you full for a day. If your time in St. Louis is limited, just swing by for a single patty and small root beer , then head on to your real lunch. Youll have room.

Founded By The Kreis Family In 1948

The establishment began as a small roadhouse restaurant in the countryside. Mrs. Kreis home cooking soon became the favorite among those traveling along Highway 67. The Kreis family operated Kreis’ until their retirement in the 1960s.

They offered to lease Kreis’ to Jack Kane, their country club manager, while retaining ownership. He successfully ran and enhanced the business, introducting the enormous portion of Prime Rib of Beef, a signature dish which the restaurant still prides itself on.

Kreis’ served as a comfortable and familiar gathering place. The consistency and quality of Kreis ensured generations of loyal clientele. Helen Kane remained operator until the Kreis family decided to sell the business and property to the Tompras brothers in 1983.

The combination of Byrons expertise and knowledge of the food industry and Tykes managerial skills were the keys to Kreis success. In 1984, a fire burned a large portion of the restaurant. Kreis’ used this opportunity to rebuild, expand, and bring the kitchen up to the restaurant level. This accommodated the booming business Kreis’ was experiencing.

Since 1990, Byrons two children, George Tompras and Renee Tompras Bogdanos have operated Kreis’, expanding the menu to keep pace with modern demands while adhering to the tradition for quality, consistency, service, and innovation that made Kreis famous.
