Applebees Brings Back Oreo Cookie Shake And Bourbon Street Steak As Part Of New Fancy Like Date Night Menu

Applebees is honoring Walker Hayes hit song turned TikTok trend Fancy Like by bringing back their popular Oreo Cookie Shake and offering it alongside their Bourbon Street Steak as part of the chains new Date Night Menu.

Just like the track says, fans will be fancy like Applebees on a date night with a Bourbon Street Steak with the Oreo Shake.

The Oreo Cookie Shake is made with a blend of soft serve ice cream and Oreo cookie crumbs, topped with whipped cream and more Oreo cookie crumbles.

The Bourbon Street Steak features a grilled 8-ounce sirloin steak seasoned with Cajun spices and topped with garlic butter. Its served hot on a cast iron platter with sautéed mushrooms and onions and comes with a side of garlic mashed potatoes.

The Oreo Cookie Shake carries a suggested price of $2.99, while the Bourbon Street Steak goes for $17.99 .

Recipe Update: This is one of those recipes I have made 10 or more times over the past 5 years and just realized I never posted it. Applebees Bourbon Street Steak is one of my favorite meals there. Its fun to be able to make this for when people come over or have a nice family dinner that cost $6 instead of $40. You could also use this marinade for chicken or for making kebabs.

How To Make It

Bourbon street steak is so tasty but it is so easy to make. At least two hours before you plan on grilling it, prepare the marinade and get the steaks in it.

Combine the Cajun Seasoning, Bourbon whiskey, honey, steak sauce, and Creole mustard in a mixing bowl and whisk it together.

Pour the marinade into a ziplock bag and add the steaks. Mash the steaks around in the marinade until they are fully coated in it.

Pop the steaks in the fridge and let them sit for at least two hours. After two hours, it’s time to grill. Let the steak sit at room temperature for at least 10 – 15 minutes while you heat up the grill, that way you aren’t throwing a freezing cold piece of meat onto a hot grill.

Heat your grill according to the instructions that came with it. Ours is a charcoal grill so we heat it with charcoal and a charcoal chimney to get the coals nice and hot. You want them to be smoldering and turning white/gray.

Once the coals are hot, dump them into the grill and add put the grate over the coals. I like to put the lid on the grill for a few minutes to get it nice and hot and then drop the steaks on.

Look at that gorgeous piece of meat!

To make the onions, slice them into thick slices and add them to a pan with a little bit of oil over medium-high heat. Once the edges start browning, reduce the heat and cook and cook and cook until they are soft and reduced. Right before removing the onions from heat, I add a pinch of kosher salt.

CUISINE AND ATMOSPHERE: The old “Neighborhood Grill” hasn’t changed much over the years, except for the featured items on the menu. You can find your typical Americana mix of chicken, steak, seafood and fried things. The decor on the walls features random pieces of pop culture, sports memorabilia, car posters all faded by sunlight.

WHAT’S NEW: Applebee’s has brought out a Bourbon Street menu featuring steak, chicken and seafood fare created with New Orleans in mind.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: I went to the South Lakeland location for a late afternoon lunch. The place wasn’t busy, but the service wavered between on the spot or nonexistent: Visits were far between, but my food was out in five minutes. I started with Brew Pub Pretzels & Beer Cheese Dip. These pretzel bread sticks were warm and crispy, and the cheese dip wasn’t overpowering. My main dish was the Creamy Cajun Steak and Shrimp. I ordered my steak medium, and parts were more medium-well or well-done. Despite that, the shrimp was seasoned well and the white wine Andouille sauce gave it a nice flavor.
