Has Weruva Cat Food Been Recalled
Weruva cat food has never been recalled, but the companys B.F.F. brand was recalled in 2017 due to low thiamine levels. Insufficient levels of Vitamin B1 were linked to hundreds of cases of illness and several deaths. The recall involved an Australia-exclusive product line only. The affected products were manufactured in a single facility that doesnt handle any other Weruva products.
Overall Is Weruva A Good Choice
If youre looking for a high-moisture food made primarily from meat with minimal plant content, Weruva might be a good choice. Many of their products are virtually plant-free and low in carbohydrates, making them species-appropriate for your obligate carnivore.
On the negative side, their foods are expensive and low in calories, meaning that they cost over $3 and up to $5.50 or more per day. Many of their recipes contain starches and thickeners, bringing the carbohydrate content up to around 20% on a dry matter basis.

My Cat Has Kidney Issues Can I Feed Weruva
The main keys to helping the kidneys is often going to an all wet diet , focusing on high-quality meat-based proteins, and controlling phosphorus and sodium.
Our foods, though not designed to prevent or treat the kidneys, check those boxes and have been helpful for some kitties with renal issues. Water intake is important , but more so from moisture intake from food, not from the water bowl, especially for kidney health. Cats need lots of moisture in their food to help dilute toxins and to support overall health. Cats initially came from the desert where there was not much water to drink, so they got water from the food they ate. In the wild, cats prey is very moist: about 75% water. This is critical because cats do not have a strong thirst drive to drink water. They must eat it.
Dry food, on the other hand, has around 7% water. Therefore, a cat may be getting over 10 times less water bite per bite when eating dry food. Cats are not built to catch up in the water bowl, which often leaves them, as some veterinarians describe, chronically dehydrated. The results impact the kidney and urinary tract.
Weruva Truluxe Steak Frites Cat Food
Even the finickiest of cats consider the Weruva Steak Frites cat food the crème de la crème when it comes to flavor. Mixed with hearty sweet potatoes, carrot, and pumpkin, your cat will not be disappointed. Developed with the carnivore diet in mind, this recipe combines high-quality meats and proteins, healthy fats, minimal carbohydrates, and high moisture content for tasty, nutritious dishes felines love.
