Why You Should Never Ever Add Oil To Your Pasta Water
Its a common misconception that adding oil to your pasta water will decrease your chances of your pasta sticking. However in reality it causes more harm than good. Adding oil to your pasta water actually creates a barrier on the pasta and makes it more difficult for sauce to adhere to the pasta, so dont add oil to your pasta water!
To avoid clumpy pasta, instead, make sure to boil pasta in plenty of water and stir just after adding pasta to boiling water, returning to boil as quickly as possible, then stir occasionally while cooking.
If you need to unstick clumpy pasta, dip it briefly in just boiled water and drain immediately, or you can try microwaving it for a few seconds at a time, the steam created from microwaving should release the starches clumping it together.

Is Olive Garden Overpriced
It is not a very extensive menu, and prices range from around $7 to maybe $20 per person, if you dont get wine or beer. I do not consider Olive Garden to be an expensive place to eat. It is midway between cheap and expensive for my budget and it is reliable and filling, if not particularly fancy or exotic.
Breaking The Rules Of Pasta
Then again, Olive Garden has faced some harsh criticism when it comes to the chains pasta dishes. Olive Garden certainly isnt a true facet of Italian cuisine lets not forget that fettuccine Alfredo is almost impossible to come by in Rome or Naples. At the same time, weve got standards, and Olive Garden doesnt always fulfill our simplest expectations.
Sure, Olive Garden is not based in a whimsical Tuscan villa, but the chain could at least salt the pasta water. Citing the Wall Street Journal, Business Insider reports that Olive Gardens staff has spent years not doing so, in an attempt to make the pots last longer. What? Salty water is the most basic and essential rule of good pasta.
And if youve ever found your fettuccine Alfredo to be a little, ahem, doughy, youre not imagining it. Olive Garden does not cook its pasta al dente, or firm. Instead, the chain deliberately allows the pasta to cook until its soft and soggy, to please customers, according to Eater. Its a pasta crime for everyone: Not only is al dente pasta healthier, its a lot closer to what youd eat in Italy .

Olive Garden’s New Parmesan
My favorite item on the menu at the Olive Garden has always been the fettuccine alfredo. Sure, it’s fun to munch unlimited breadsticks and salad all on there own. But IMO there’s nothing more satisfying than dipping one final breadstick into my plate to make sure I get every single last drop of alfredo sauce at the conclusion of my OG meal.
If I’m in the mood for steak, I don’t have to forgo my fettucine fix. The Italian chain’s 6-oz. Tuscan sirloin comes with a side of fettuccine alfredo and there’s even broccoli mixed in the pasta. So that makes it healthy, right? Am I right?
Because I am a cheese lover, I never fail to ask my server to sprinkle extra parmesan cheese on top. For all my fellow cheese lovers out there, do I have some good news for you! Olive Garden just introduced two new cheesy good ways to enjoy its grilled sirloin to the menu.
First up is OG’s parmesan-alfredo crusted sirloin. This 6-oz. steak has a savory parmesan-alfredo crust. And you guessed it: This dish comes with a side of fettuccine alfredo with broccoli.
If you want to mix things up a little, you can also order a gorgonzola topped sirloin with the same trusted side. This steak is topped with gorgonzola cheese and sun-dried tomatoes and finished off with a drizzle of balsamic.
According to Chew Boom, OG appears to have responded to fan feedback “after removing a similar dish from the menu some time ago.” I see you, Olive Garden. I see you.

Please note that these are high in calories, so you may want to limit your consumption to just 2 links if you wish to lose weight.
Nutritional Content per Serving: Two sausage links contain 470 calories, 39g fat, 27g protein, 0.5g fiber, and 2.5g net carbs.
The Tuscan Sirloin can be found in OGs gluten-free menu, and it features a 6 oz sirloin steak with garlic herb butter topping and two side dishesmashed potatoes and steamed broccoli.

Yummy food, easy access, good service, one of my favorite spots in Erie!
Since Olive Garden bailed on Canada back in 1997 I have been a few times when I am down in the US. Same bread sticks, same trademark cutlery lol. My latest visit was at the Millcreek Mall in Erie PA. The staff are friendly, and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. The food portions are enormous! not for the diet concious ) I love the never ending pasta bowl!! There is a wait as this location is very busy, but we were seated very quickly by the professional staff. The food quality is good, no complaints. The menu does mention something about the kitchen staff training and learning either in Tuscany or from those who have trained in Tuscany – I really should have taken a pic of that. I highly doubt it lol. Parking is ample too. This is a much better Olive Garden than ones I have visited in MA and GA in the past. Good memories, good food I will go again for sure 🙂
