I ordered a Christmas gift for my in-laws and chose Holiday delivery at checkout. I then received an email saying that package was on its way and would be delivered for December 5th. That is not holiday delivery! Christmas is still 3 weeks away. Now my “Christmas gift” is ruined and I am extremely upset. I called customer service who said they could offer a $20 coupon which I will not use. I am absolutely turned off from using this service after this experience.

First off a little leary to even try the stuff, since the package claimed it had dry ice inside, but guess what? No dry ice inside our box of meats, just an empty bag where dry ice was suppose to be. The very small apple tartlets were partially defrosted, but the meats were frozen, however I am wondering were they re-frozen? Just going by their appearance. The meat portions are ridiculously small, and the grade of meat…especially the hamburgars and hotdogs, look very full of fat I wonder what the meat percentage is…5% meat, 95% fat? Looks like very poor grade meat! Just as many others have stated,We feel ripped off!

How Much Does Butcherbox Vs Omaha Steaks Cost

Since there are so many options with Omaha Steaks and ButcherBox is sold differently its hard to directly compare, but Omaha Steaks is actually not that much cheaper

Of course, since ButcherBox includes some cheaper meat, its not a direct comparison, but when you factor in shipping across the board, minus sales, you may not save much with Omaha Steaks vs ButcherBox. ButcherBox seems to me to be the better deal.

Omaha Steaks Uses Antibiotics In Their Meats

Sent an email asking if they have hormones or antibiotics in their foods. They said they use farms that use antibiotics! WHAT?!!! For the price you pay for their meats, they should be organic!! Im shocked I didnt know this as I try to eat meat without hormones and antibiotics and figured they wouldnt add such garbage or purchase from farms using this. Wrong.

When travelling to Omaha you have to make a quick stop to Omaha steaks and order yourself a package. Good prices and great Steaks.

Somewhat surprised to see the negative reviews I have placed numerous orders for myself, family and friends without issues. Just took advantage of the filet mignon offer and again was very satisfied. This is our go-to site for Christmas gifts for our family kids and grandkids look forward to the packages. The cuts of meat have been consistently excellent and as described in the offerings. The only question that I have after I receive an order is why we dont do it more often. Note that the follow-up questions offered reflect brick and mortar restaurants this is a mail order site.

Does Omaha Steaks Have Free Shipping

Omaha Steaks only provides delivery for orders above $169. Shipping is expensive, especially for the non-continental United States and other countries. Fortunately, there are several free shipping packages under $169, which will pop up while shopping.

What Is The Bottom Line Of Omaha Steaks

The bottom line is that by purchasing Omaha Steaks, you are receiving no more or less than you would receive if you purchased your meat from a respectable retail grocery shop. You are paying a disproportionately higher price for the same piece of meat. What are the most important financial secrets that wealthy people keep hidden from us?Here are the five most important secrets they never reveal.

How Much Do Omaha Steaks Cost

Let’s not pretend here: Omaha Steaks’ meat is expensive any way you slice it. The real question, then, is value.

Most of the steaks here are in the $30-to-$40 per pound range, with premium butcher’s cut and Private Reserve options easily selling for $72 per pound

Seafood varies wildly but comes at an even higher markup due to the logistical difficulties of preventing it from going bad. As one customer noted on TrustPilot, mussels that go for $2.50 a pound locally could be $100 through Omaha Steaks. Although to be fair, that appears to be the anchoring price to make $50 per pound seem more reasonable, and mollusk shellfish require particular care to preserve their integrity. It seems to be the case that people far from the ocean are willing to pay this much for mussels, and if so, good luck to them.

The Types Of Food Omaha Steaks Offers

Unboxing Omaha Steaks – What You Really Get

While steaks are in their name, Omaha Steaks offers way more than just steak. In fact, they offer nearly every cut of beef, chicken, turkey, and pork imaginable. But thats just a portion of the foods they offer. They also now offer seafood, pastas, sides, desserts, and even wine.

To give you an idea of the immense variety they offer, here are some of their most popular foods they sell from each category:

    • Brussels sprouts with bacon and shallots
    • Roasted mixed vegetables

The examples above are really just the tip of the iceberg. In fact, I found one of the hardest parts of ordering to be deciding what to get.

While they offer a lot of meats that you cook, a good portion of the items they offer are premade foods .

This enormous variety, coupled with their premade options makes Omaha Steaks a great option for special occasions where you may need to feed a lot of people a nice dinner but you dont want to have to spend hours cooking everything. Emily and I have considered using Omaha Steaks for when we host future family holidays.

    Snake River Farms Top Pick

Snake River Farms is a family-owned business out of Idaho whose meat is used by Michelin-star restaurants.

Luckily for us, they also sell directly to the public via their website.

Their claim to fame is their American Wagyu beef, which comes from crossbreeding imported Wagyu cattle with American Angus.

Their beef is rated higher than USDA Prime .

You can choose from a huge variety of cuts but you cant go wrong with ordering the American Wagyu Gold Grade Ribeye, the bone-in new york strip or the filet mignon.

They guys arent just a mail-order steak company. Porter Road is a full online butcher, selling a large range of beef, pork, chicken, and lamb.

Their meat is sourced from small family farms in Kentucky and Tennessee before it is cut and dry-aged for a minimum of 14 days at their facilities in Kentucky.

All beef is pasture-raised and hormone and antibiotic-free.

Their meat is also quite a bit more affordable than Snake River Farms, making Porter Road a great choice if you want to treat yourself without breaking the bank.

You can shop from over 50 different cuts of beef, but you cant go wrong with the bone-in ribeye.

One of the things I love about Porter Road is the selection of more interesting cuts like Flank Steak, Tri-Tip, Bavette, and beef neck roast.

You can also let Porter Road do the meat shopping for you with one of their curated meat boxes.

They are also focused on sustainability and ensure all meat is humanely raised.

How Long Can Omaha Steaks Stay In Packaging

If you keep your Omaha Steak package in a vacuum-sealed bag, you can leave it for three months in the freezer. Make sure the meat is not thawed at room temperature! Let it defrost in the refrigerator, which would allow it to retain more of the natural juices.

Defrosting 1 inch or thicker cuts at 3640 degrees Fahrenheit should take between 1224 hours. If you dont have that much time, quickly thaw steaks under cold running water while they are still in their package, and this should take between 3040 mins.

Make sure to only defrost how much you need! After you take the part you want, leave the rest in the sealed package. Thawed meat must be used up in 35 days.

Final Thoughts: Who Is Omaha Steaks Right For

Omaha Steaks is one of the tougher reviews weve done. On one hand, their food is delicious and they have quite a lot of variety. On the other hand, the way they price their foods is confusing and can lead to one-off orders being very expensive.

However, my main gripe with Omaha Steaks though is their lack of transparency. Nearly every other meat delivery company we have reviewed in the past has been upfront about where they get their meat, the USDA grade of their meat, and the quality . It was nearly impossible for me to find any information about these things in my research.

With all that said, Omaha Steaks may not be the best value but they do provide the most convenience and variety when compared to nearly every other meat delivery service weve tested. This convenience and variety makes them a great option for people who are hosting big parties, holidays, or get togethers where there will be groups of people eating.

Plus, I cant deny that their food is delicious. Everything weve had in each box weve ordered since 2017 has had an abundance of flavorfrom the filet mignons to the chocolate lava cakes.

There are many different online delivery services to choose from. So, why choose Omaha Steaks over one of their competitors? Many customers do exactly that for a few key reasons. First, Omaha has the widest selection of products in the industry. Not only does the company carry a wide range of high quality meat products, but they also sell each of those products in many different sizes. This makes it easy to customize your order down to the exact specifications you want.

Omaha Steaks also stands out from the pack with its affordable prices. The company sells prime cuts of meat without overcharging. For example, the Boneless Pork Chops start at just $7.99. Thats an incredible deal compared to what many of the companys competitors charge for the same product.

Final Decision: Give Kansas City Steaks A Try

Meat Boxes | Omaha Steaks unbox 2020

Its clear why Kansas City Steaks and Omaha Steaks are competitors for reasons. Both are full-service mail-order steak companies and are professionally respected, with a large selection of steaks but also other products. However, there are a few ways Kansas City Steaks outshines Omaha Steaks.

Kansas City steaks sources only USDA Choice and USDA Prime for their steaks. They also age them longer for additional flavor and have just as good of a selection with actually more ordering options. From auto-delivery to more package sizes and bundles, theres more for customers to select from. Their returns and exchanges are seemingly a little more limited but also more specific than Omaha Steaks.

I recommend starting with a single order and seeing how the shipping goes, then taking it from there. Shop Kansas City Steaks Here.

    Differences In Shipping & Delivery

Omaha Steaks offers a larger delivery area since they ship to all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico. For the other service provider, the delivery place only includes the US.

When we got our gift card order from the website for delivery, both product providers use a styrofoam cooler packaging and frozen dry ice. The dry ice wasnt melted upon delivery, just like how we wanted the dry ice to be while on travel.

We thought they both had fairly similar shipping costs, but Kansas City Steak Company offers a few dollars less.

    Is Omaha Steak Beef Grass

    Type of Beef
    • Some may be more used to the taste
    • Higher in fat and calories
    • Higher in saturated fat and cholesterol
    • Fewer antioxidants

The majority of Omaha Steak is grain-fed. They have added a modest selection of grass-fed beef products. These include grass-fed burgers, Filet Mignon, Ribeye, and New York Strip Steak. See All Grass-Fed Products Here. Not everyone prefers grass-fed, and there are pros and cons of grass-fed vs grain-fed beef, as seen in the table above. But grass-fed beef is indeed healthier for you, and some also prefer its taste.
