The Worlds Best Beef Is Still On Restaurant Tables In Chicago And Available To Go Nationally

Best Steak Restaurants Lawry’s Dining Chicago with David Lissner

When Carl Sandburg wrote his poem Chicago, he forever stamped the phrase butcher to the world on the Windy City. Sandburg depicted Chicago as a tall bold slugger set vivid against the little soft cities. One can practically smell the sizzling Angus steak between the lines.

With the founding of the Union Stock Yards in 1865, and throughout the decades to today, Chicago has built a reputation as the nations Woodstock of steak. The city benefited from a good location and a lot of luck, says historian Joshua Specht in his book, Red Meat Republic: A Hoof-to-Table History of How Beef Changed America.

Although Specht details the ways in which globalization has spread the distinction of being the butcher to the world farther afield, Chicago is still the place where steak lovers can immerse themselves in beef known over the world as the most tender, marbled accompaniment to a massive, butter-smothered baked potato one can find.

Frequently Asked Questions And Answers

What are people saying about steakhouses in Chicago, IL?

This is a review for steakhouses in Chicago, IL:

“Underwhelmed. We ordered the Picada Mar y Tierra and the portions were very generous… I’ll give them that. The pork ribs were crispy and juicy if not lacking in actual flavor. The skirt steak was questionable- did not look/taste like most skirt steaks I’ve had . We didn’t receive any pork loin on the platter. The shrimp was cooked well and seasoned, but unfortunately the octopus was flavorless and after asking for refills on the sauces it still wasn’t enough to make it impressive. Service was very slow and they did not provide refills on water, soda, or the sauces when asked. Again… underwhelmed.”
