For the initial standard training that Steak n Shake offers, there is no fee. These costs do not include the wages paid to ones management, hourly employees, or franchise owners.

Depending on how many people you train and how far you and your employees must drive to the approved training location that Steak n Shake specifies, your fees may vary. The minimum requirement is that ones general manager and restaurant manager attend a new restaurant opening and travel to Steak n Shakes San Antonio or Indianapolis office for some of the training. The maximum requirement is that one is located in close proximity to Steak n Shakes certified training restaurant. The top end range includes the projected cost for flights, ground transportation, meals, and housing and is based on the assumption that ones management will travel to a licensed training restaurant.

Lead Generation Vs Franchising Business: Which Is A Better Option In 2019

This sounds obvious, however, Ill dig into the details here. In a franchising business, you need to have around $100,000 at least or high as much as million dollars for the initial startup. That is if you have the money and you can afford it, you can jump into it right away.

Before the company gives you the franchising authority, you need to comply with their requirements including the comprehensive market research including the location and such stuff.

Apart from the hassle, youll go into prior to the operation, you need to undergo a series of training to make sure theyre satisfied with the quality control youre going to implement in your franchise.

Heres the thing, it sounds exciting at first. Yet, in the end, it will exhaust you. Seriously, Ive been into different kinds of businesses you can think of. Im a businessman by nature. I love doing business and talking about it.

In the long run, especially if youre not satisfied with the ROI or your return of investment you initially expected, youll burn out. Youll be drained. Not including how the amass of work you have to do every single day, affecting your life and your social circle afterward.

Ive experienced that myself. So, I understand what hell youre going through when you decide to do this option. Thats why Im giving you what I did to make sure I place myself in a position right now.

Why is the lead generation so important nowadays?

What youre getting in our program are the following:

Why Is The Steak ‘n Shake Buy

According to Sardar Biglari, CEO of Steak ‘n Shake’s parent company Biglari Holdings, the initial investment is so low compared to how much it really costs to open many franchises in order to open the door to cash-strapped entrepreneurs like Biglari once was. In 2018, Biglari stated, per QSR, that he “started company with $15,000 and built a thriving enterprise,” adding that he “want to provide an opportunity to other entrepreneurs who are highly motivated to excel but lack the financial means” and that what the company is looking for in Franchise Partners “is not great capital but great ability.”

While that may give you the warm fuzzies, the Franchise Partner deal may not be the golden ticket it seems. For one thing, sales vary enormously at Steak ‘n Shake locations . The brand has been struggling to stay open since before starting the buy-ins in 2018 and, according to Restaurant Business, nearly filed for bankruptcy in 2021.

However, QSR reported in February 2022 that Biglari’s grand plan seemed to have turned things around for the burger vendor and that the low entry fee really was key to his vision. Steak ‘n Shake’s current plan relies on go-getter Franchise Partners to whip failing locations into shape. The aim of the lower-than-industry-average fee is to encourage energetic, hands-on management overhauls by providing hands-on managers a vested interest in the location’s outcome. Receiving 50% of profits seems pretty vested from here.

Steak N Shake Turns To Counter Service As Losses Mount

Facing mounting losses and steeply falling traffic, Steak n Shake has closed nearly a third of its company-owned restaurants and plans to convert most of them into a counter-service model in the hopes that they can become profitable.

The company has temporarily closed 107 of its 368 company-operated restaurants and now says it plans to reopen most of them without waitstaff, which the burger chain had been using since its founding in 1934. Franchisees operate the remaining 242 locations.

It is uncertain how many of the restaurants will be reopened and when.

The closures follow a three-year period in which Steak n Shakes operations have deteriorated, sending the chain to significant losses. Same-store sales, which had increased every quarter for more than seven years, declined 6.9% in 2019, the third straight annual decline.

Traffic, meanwhile, plunged 11.2%.

That sent the brands operating earnings tumbling: Steak n Shakes operating loss widened last year to $18.6 million, from $10.7 million the year before.

Sardar Biglari, CEO of Steak n Shake owner Biglari Holdings, said the temporary closures were necessary because of the losses.

We temporarily closed 107 units to fix issues that led to the operating shortfall, he said in his annual letter to shareholders. We refused to keep any unit open that could not deliver excellent customer service.

How Much Do Steak N Shake Employees Make

Steak ‘n Shake Franchise only $10,000 – What’s the Catch?

So how much do employees get paid, on average? According to Indeed, pay can vary significantly, depending on the position. Servers at Steak n Shake make the least, at an average of just $7.53 an hour, while restaurant staff can expect to make $9.43 an hour and cashiers $10.15 an hour. Glassdoor does note, though, that servers can expect to receive tips of $3 to $5 an hour as extra compensation, something that no other staff members receive. However, the restaurant recently announced some big changes, including news that the server position will soon be eliminated in favor of kiosks.

Based on Indeeds figures, it pays better to be in management, not surprisingly. Hourly wages for managerial roles include $12.64 for a retail assistant manager, $12.70 for a shift manager, $13.56 for a restaurant manager, and $14.82 for a store manager. On an annual basis, that comes out to $47,564 for a general manager, while district managers can make $73,451 per year.

Benefits also differ depending on the position. According to Steak n Shakes corporate website, hourly employees can expect employee meals, training, cell phone discounts, and flexible scheduling. Those in management roles, however, are entitled to medical and dental insurance, paid vacations, and a bonus program.
