My Review Of American Kobe Wagyu New York Strip

The product arrived well-packaged and completely frozen. These are wonderful and will be a welcome meal when we get together. The meat itself was tender and flavorful. A fantastic product that I would definitely order again! Get the pictured meat American Kobe Wagyu New York Strip , or see all Snake River Farms American Wagyu Beef offerings Snake River Farms American Wagyu Beef. Really nice steaks. Tasty and tender. Some of them are a little odd-shaped but cook up great. I pan-fried them in butter to seal them and baked them for 5 minutes at 400 degrees. Perfect Medium rare and tender. Highly recommended. I ordered some additional steaks just based on the taste of the first order. Best steak I’ve ever had, well worth the priceand I qualify that by saying that the price restricts this to a rare-special-occasion-only purchase. I’ve paid good money at excellent steak houses and this is by far the best. A great meal!

Tomahawk Steak Vs Ribeye

Snake River Farms Dry

The tomahawk steak and ribeye are cut from the same part of the cow. One notable difference is the bone that protrudes from the tomahawk steak. The ribeye steak just has the meat and is much smaller.

A tomahawk usually weighs between 30 and 60 ounces and is two-inches thick. A 60-ounce steak weighs 3.75 pounds! The ribeye is usually a 12-ounce cut that is about an inch thick.

Storage And Reheating Instructions:

Steak is best eaten fresh. You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can reheat in a skillet on the stove over medium heat until warmed through, however it will be more well done than when first cooked.

These wagyu gourmet franks are packed with the casing intact, just like true old fashioned franks. I wanted to LOVE these so much, but all of us didnt enjoy these hot dogs at all. They lacked flavor and the casing texture is odd and tough.

Verdict: I am not a fan of these hot dogs, and would definitely suggest skipping these. Costco & Sams Club both have a decent hot dog for just $1.50, and they are ten times tastier than THIS!

Collin is a big fan of Snake River farms too! Heres what she has to say:

I used to buy Snake River Farms products when I lived in Boise, ID as they were available at my local grocery store. They were amazing! BUT since we moved to Reno, NV, its hard to find the same quality meats at the grocery stores here Im missing my marbled Wagyu Ribeye Steaks so much!!

How To Grill A Tomahawk Steak Overview

Reverse Seared Snake River Farms 45-Day Dry Aged Tomahawk Ribeyes on the Big Green Egg

A tomahawk ribeye is a giant cut of steak still on the rib bone, typically 2.5 to 3.5 pounds in weight. Its a sight to behold, and youll want to make sure you do it justice on the grill.

First things first, youll want to get your beef seasoned. Ive always been a fan of keeping things simple when it comes to seasoning quality pieces of meat all you really want to do is bring out the delicious flavor within your tomahawk ribeye.

I like to use a seasoning mixture of kosher salt, black pepper, and maybe a little bit of garlic powder, but you can feel free to use your favorite steak seasoning as a substitute.

A tomahawk steak is a HUGE piece of meat, so you want to make sure to be liberal when it comes to applying your seasoning. Make sure you coat the entire thing, including sides and even the fatty parts.

From there, let your steak rest at room temperature for a minimum of about 45 minutes. If time is on your side, you can also place your seasoned beef into the fridge for a couple of hours before letting it rest at room temperature. During this time, the beef will absorb the seasoning and flavor will begin to sink in. Also, the seasoning will absorb some of the moisture inside of the steak which will help create a beautiful crust when we sear later in the process.

An amazing ribeye steak sourced from SRF American Wagyu Gold Grade beef. Gold Grade is the highest level of marbling offered by SRF and rates well over USDA Prime. The bone has been left intact for an eye appealing presentation and a more juicy texture. These bone-in ribeyes are elevated to delicious heights due to a minimum of 45 days of dry-aging. The result is a more intense beef flavor and the unique flavor that only comes from dry-aging.

How Long Do You Cook A Tomahawk Steak In The Oven

reverse

If you dont want to grill your tomahawk, you might instead choose to cook it in the oven. To do this, you will need to begin by setting your oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit before leaving it to pre-heat.

When your steak is prepared and the oven has preheated, you can then place your tomahawk in the oven. To do this, you should place the steak on a cooling rack, and then place the cooling rack in a baking sheet. You might choose to cover your baking sheet with foil to make cleaning up easier.

Then, all you need to do is cook your steak in the oven for around 45 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 125 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature will give you a medium steak, so if you prefer your steak cooked differently, you will need to leave it in the oven for longer or take it out earlier.

How Long Does It Take To Grill A Tomahawk Steak

A Tomahawk steak is a pretty large lump of meat, so you might be wondering how long you should grill it for. As you probably expect, it takes considerably longer to grill a tomahawk steak, simply because of the sheer size of it.

To grill a tomahawk steak, your grill will first need to let your grill heat up. You should then place your steak inside the grill, but keep it as far away from the open flame as possible. Once inside, it will take roughly 45 minutes for your tomahawk steak to grill in indirect heat. During this time, you should flip the grill every 10 minutes or so.

It can sometimes be difficult to tell when your tomahawk is done when you are grilling it. The best way to find out is to test the internal temperature of it. When the inside reaches 130 degrees, your tomahawk steak is cooked.

How Big Is A Tomahawk Steak

Tomahawk Steaks are cut thick, so you can expect a piece of beef around 2 inches in thickness and weighing between 2 and 3 pounds!

The bone sticking out from the Tomahawk Steak is frenched which means all of the connective tissue, fat, and meat has been removed from it, leaving a clean bone handle for your steak.

American Wagyu Gourmet Hot Dogs

I loved the flavor and delicious snap of the Snake River Farms hot dog.

On the other hand, the American Wagyu Gourmet Hot Dogs, which cost $12 for five, definitely stood out from store-bought versions. The hot dogs are significantly larger than average, and they have a thick casing that gives them a delicious snap! Plus, the meat is incredibly flavorful, especially if you can get a good char on it. I would definitely buy these again, especially if we were hosting a cookout.

Verdict: Buy

The Kurobuta pork chop was unbelievably flavorful and moist.

We also got a Kurobuta Frenched Pork Chop, which costs $17 for a 5-ounce cut. My boyfriend doesnt like pork chops, so I cooked it up one night when he wasnt home. I brined it for around an hour, then pan seared the meat with a maple-cider glaze and served it alongside roasted brussels sprouts.

Let me tell you: That was the best dang pork chop Ive ever eaten. It was moist and flavorful, and I could have eaten two of them! I even picked up the bone to scrape the last bits of meat off with my teethsomething I never do. While the price initially gave me sticker shock, I am a total convert, and Id definitely buy several of these pork chops to serve on a special occasion.

Verdict: Buy

The Zabuton cut is juicy and tender.

Verdict: Buy

Prime New York Strip Steaks

Cost:

New York Strip is a top steakhouse cut and this USDA Prime rendition features lots of delicious marbling and measures 1 ½ inch thick. We grilled ours on the outdoor grill to medium doneness and it tasted fantastic with incredible flavor and texture. I loved this tender steak so much!

Verdict: Although pricey at around $50 each, we would maybe pay around that at an expensive steakhouse and this fed my family of 4. It was delicious, and yep, I would totally buy this again!

Deal idea!

Why Does Collin Love Snake River Farms

Theyve adopted a lot of the traditional aspects of the Japanese feeding method. This means it takes up to four times longer than traditional U.S. cattle production methods before the beef is ready. At the same time, the result is beautiful beef thats extremely tender and intensely flavorful! So worth it!

An important part of their process is something I hadnt heard about before called wet aging. To maximize the flavor and tenderness of their meat, they carefully marinade a piece of meat in its own juices and keep it from being exposed to the outside air. Gotta love a juicy, tender steak!

And even better, once theyre done aging the meat, they have master butchers who hand-select, trim, and cut the final products they package. The end result is unlike anything Ive ever tried! Try finding that at the grocery store or from many other online retailers .

Snake River Farms American Wagyu beef grades above Prime on the USDA grading scale and is graded using the Japanese Beef Marbling Standard. This standard rates beef on a scale of 1-12 based on the beefs marbling. Most U.S. beef rated Prime by the USDA falls in the 4 to 5 range. American Wagyu rates as follows:

  • Black Grade: Beef rating at a 6 or above on the Japanese Beef Marbling Standard.
  • Gold Grade: Beef rating at a 9 or above on the Japanese Beef Marbling Standard, making it some of the highest quality beef grown inside the United States.
