How I Cooked The Snake River Farms American Wagyu Ribeyes
I did NOT want to experiment on a $100 steak, so I stuck with what I like best in terms of seasoning and cooking method. Some people argue that this high quality of beef doesnt need anything more than salt and pepper, but my homemade steak seasoning is my go-to so thats what I used.
I seasoned my steaks liberally, because I had already decided to stay true to my own cooking methods.
After I seasoned the beef, I set my Weber charcoal grill up like a smoker and reverse seared the steaks. If youre not familiar with reverse searing on a charcoal grill, its essentially smoking the meat first at a lower temperature and then finishing it off by searing at a high temperature. This cooking method makes it easier to get your steak to the desired doneness with maximum flavor and the perfect crust while limiting the risk of overcooking.
Youre only cooking the steak at a grill temp of around 250 degrees, so the meat wont cook as quickly giving you time to dial it in to the perfect temperature for you.

My Review Of Prime Cowboy Steak
The product arrived well-packaged and completely frozen. After thawing the meat, I was able to make two large Beef Wellingtons, and still, have enough left over for a couple of steaks as well. I used some of the trimmings to make some beef stock as well. The meat itself was tender and flavorful. A fantastic product that I would definitely order again! Get the pictured meat Prime Cowboy Steak , or see all Double R Ranch offerings Double R Ranch. Really nice steaks. Tasty and tender. Some of them are a little odd-shaped but cook up great. I pan-fried them in butter to seal them and baked them for 5 minutes at 400 degrees. Perfect Medium rare and tender. Highly recommended. I am sure that I can make a whole page and do a Snake River Farms Wagyu review, and maybe I will in the future. For right now I will see what customers have to say about it.
First a little explanation of what Wagyu beef is.
Wagyu means Japanese cattle and comes from the Kobe, and two other regions in Japan. These purebred are crossbred with traditional cattle form the USA and this is called American Wagyu.
Wagyu meat is known for its marbling and this is caused by the unique genetics of these cows. If you are talking about health I can tell you that Wagyu also contains more fatty acids in general.
The Snake River Farms Wagyu is used in restaurants that have Michelin stars and only serve premium meat brands. This proves that the taste of Wagyu is outstanding.
A picture can paint a thousand words they say, but a video can say even more.
Cowboy Steak Versus A Tomahawk Steak
What part of the cow is a Tomahawk Steak or Cowboy Steak? Lets demystify something for a second. Cowboy steaks are typically a bone-in thick cut Ribeye. A Tomahawk is synonymous with Cowboy Ribeye but depending on where you buy it, the rib bone may be much shorter on the Cowboy cut. The bones on a Tomahawk, for example, tend to be 5 inches or more in length.
Pro Tip: When choosing between Tomahawk or a shorter bone-in Ribeye, go with the shorter thick bone-in Ribeye. The long bone looks awesome, dont get me wrong, but you do end up paying for that extra weight in the end.

American Wagyu New York End Cut Steak
This 10oz steak looked SO good!
I cooked it to medium rare in a grill pan, then finished it with sea salt flakes and a rosemary and garlic compound butter . I can honestly say that this was the best NY strip I have *ever* had!
Other cuts that I will be trying soon are Steakhouse Petite Tenders and American Wagyu Top Sirloin, and I will report back!
