Disney World Dining Dress Codes

Dining at Disney World is actually very very casual.

Most table service restaurants actually permit you to wear whatever it is you were wearing to the parks.

Really, the only thing you need to get into a Disney restaurant are shirt and shoes.

However, it is a little more strict when it comes to signature dining.

Signature Dining Dress Code

According to Disneys website here is the signature dining dress code:

Men may wear khakis, slacks, jeans or dress shorts and collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.

Women may wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses, jeans or dress shorts.

Not permitted in the dining room are tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and shirts with offensive language or graphics.

As seen in the photo above, that would be acceptable to a fine dining restaurant on a hot summer day. Just as long as the hat is removed in the dining room.

Here are all the signature restaurants that enforce a slightly stricter dress code :

  • Dining Room at Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe
  • Flying Fish Cafe
  • Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe
  • Yachtsman Steakhouse

Also, as a side note, some of these restaurants that are located inside a park may have a less strict dress code from the rest, since you are in the parks and most likely wearing park attire.

Dressing Down Discriminatory Dress Codes

Sexualized and gender-based dress codes are off the menu in Ontario restaurants following Human Rights Commission’s report

Reprint was created with permission on May 16, 2017 from the May 10, 2017 issue

THIS YEAR, on International Womens Day, theOntario Human Rights Commission released a new report, Not on the Menu: Inquiry report on sexual and gender-based dress codes in Ontarios restaurants. This report outlines findings from an inquiry into dress codes at various Ontario restaurants and commitments made by a number of Ontario restaurant chains to put an end to discriminatory dress codes for restaurant staff particularly female and transgender workers and create more inclusive workplaces. The OHRC also released its Policy position on sexualized and gender-specific dress codes.

The result: sexual harassment and gender-based dress codes are off the menu, and will no longer be tolerated. Thus, employers with discriminatory dress codes expose themselves to liability.

Hopefully, this report will bring about change which is long overdue.

Impact of discriminatory dress codes on employees

Most workers in restaurants and bars across Ontario are women, many of whom are young and precariously employed. As a result, they are prone to being more vulnerable and are less likely to be aware of or be able to assert their rights.

Victoria & Alberts Dress Code

Since Victoria & Alberts is a AAA Five Diamond award winning restaurant, the dress code is actually stricter than the rest.

Heres their dress code according to their website:

Men must wear dinner jackets with dress pants or slacks and shoes. Ties are optional. Women may wear a cocktail dress, nice dress, dressy pant suit or a skirt with a blouse.

Jeans, shorts, capri pants, sandals, flip-flops or tennis shoes are not permitted.

Yes it is a little more strict, but hey what do you expect. Its an exceptional restaurant with high standards.
