Faqs For This Tasty Steak Pizza

Domino’s® | Philly Cheesesteak Pizza Review ð?ðð§ð¥© | Peep THIS Out! ð

What cheese is used in Philly cheese steak pizza?

The signature cheese used on Dominos or Papa Johns Philly cheese steak pizza is Provolone, a semi-hard Italian cheese. If you cant get Provolone or dont like it, try making this recipe with mozzarella and cheese. Those are some of my favorite pizza toppings for beef pizzas, which is why theyre used in this recipe.

What can I serve with Philly cheese steak pizza?

A simple tomato cucumber salad marinated in vinegar is a good side option to serve with your homemade Philly cheese steak pizza. Homemade fries, nachos, air fryer wings, or coleslaw are other possibilities.

What sauce is on Philly cheese steak pizza?

Philly cheese steak pizza features a creamy white sauce thats similar to an Alfredo sauce, but dont head to the store just yet my recipe gives you all the information you need to make it from scratch out of basic ingredients.

Can you freeze Philly Cheese Steak Pizza?

This Philly cheese steak pizza can be frozen, so make up several and slip them in the freezer for when the mood strikes! I like to parbake store bought Whole Foods pizza dough or Trader Joes pizza dough and then top it, and freeze the toppings.

Can you freeze the toppings on steak pizza?

How To Make Dominos Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

Start by making the pizza dough .

While the dough rising, prepare the topping/sauce. Slice the steak into strips about 1/8-inch wide. Then sauté over medium-high heat until slightly browned and juicy with most of the pink color gone:

Remove the meat from the pan. Then add the onions, green peppers and mushrooms . Sauté for a few minutes until slightly softened with the edges of the onions starting to brown or caramelize. Remember, they will cook a bit more in the oven, just like the steak.

Now youre ready to assemble the pizza. Preheat your oven to 450°F and grab a pizza pan or large baking sheet. Once the dough has doubled in volume, punch it down. Next, stretch it out on the pan to about 12-14 inches in diameter. Brush with oil and poke all over with a fork:

Last but not least, sprinkle the American and provolone cheeses evenly across the dough. Then sprinkle the steak and veggies on top. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the cheeses are melted and the crust is golden around the edges:

Ingredients For Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

PIZZA DOUGH: If youre a pizza purist, you can definitely make your own dough. If Im short on time I will use this no rise pizza dough recipe, or even a store bought refrigerated pizza dough. Ive also started making or buying a white whole wheat pizza dough to add a little bit of nutrition to our weekly habit.

PIZZA SAUCE: I think the only point of contention Ive seen with a Philly cheese steak pizza is what sauce is on the Philly cheesesteak pizza. Some like a cheesy alfredo Philly cheese steak pizza sauce, others go with a simple garlic butter. Honestly, I really like marinara sauce. There is so much cheese on the pizza, I dont feel like it needs a cream sauce, and I like the marinara flavor with the steak.

GOAT CHEESE: I use some big dollops of fresh chevre on the pizza because it gives some of that same creaminess you would get from a cream sauce, but with a wonderful tangy flavor. I dont recommend skipping these one, its a MUST!

MOZZARELLA, CHEDDAR, PROVOLONE, AMERICAN: Between the goat cheese, mozzarella, and cheddar, this Philly cheese steak pizza has a good variety of cheese flavors. That said, you can also swap them with your favorite cheesesteak sandwich cheeses.

Maybe sub American cheese for the cheddar , and use provolone instead of mozzarella. You could even go half mozzarella half provolone, or throw in some Swiss as well.

A cheesesteak is a sandwich made from thinly sliced pieces of beefsteak and melted cheese in a long hoagie roll.

One may also ask, what kind of bread is used for Philly cheesesteaks? My friends on BBQ Brethren believe Amoroso is the best bread for a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich.

Beside above, what cut of beef is used for shaved steak?

Since a slicer or band saw can cut any meat thin, shaved beef can cost as much as the most expensive cut or even slightly more if its sliced to order. But theres no need for such extravagance, and most sliced steak comes from the round.

What is on an original Philly Cheesesteak?

A cheesesteak is made up of thinly sliced, sauteed rib eye beef and melted cheese on a long, crusty roll. Common toppings include fried onions, hot or sweet peppers, sauteed mushrooms and ketchup.

A Note On Making Steak For Philly Pizza

Leftover, refrigerated steak is perfect for this recipe because chilled steak is easy to slice.

For replicating the classic Philly steak seasoning taste, marinate your favorite steak recipe in worcestershire sauce with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Or just use a little salt and pepper to sear or grill an 8 oz steak to medium rare like I did in the coulotte steak recipe in the tutorial photos.

If youre wondering how to cook steak for pizza recipes, dont forget: the steak will continue cooking in the oven. So even if you prefer a more well done steak, I suggest cooking it on the rare side.

Knead the dough on a work surface until you have a smooth dough thats tacky, but not sticky. Then place the dough in a greased bowl, cover and let it rest in a warm place for 30 minutes until doubled in size. Punch down the dough and roll it out to the size of the pizza youre making.
