Reheating On The Stovetop
If you dont have a lot of time, you can go straight to the stovetop for reheating. While this method is faster, it will require standing by the steak and watch it closely.
Heat the skillet on the stovetop over medium heat. Then pour a tablespoon of olive oil into the skillet. Add the steak to the skillet and flip it over every minute until you are happy with how done the steak is. For a medium-rare steak, it should only take about 3 minutes.
What You Will Need
Here are the ingredients you will need to make this grilled pork steak recipe:
Water
Honey
Lemon juice – freshly squeezed lemon juice has the best flavor.
Garlic – you can mince fresh garlic cloves, or buy the “jarlic” as it will save you a little time.
Red pepper flakes
Kosher salt
Pork butt steaks or pork shoulder steaks – approximately half-inch thick, bone-in. You can also use a standard bone-in pork chop too.
Olive oil

Can You Refreeze Pork Chops
It depends on how thawed the pork chops are. If the meat is removed from the freezer and place into the fridge for less than 10 minutes, you can refreeze them.
On the other hand, if the pork chops have thawed already, its best to not refreeze it. Doing so will cause the texture and flavor of the meat to alter. Once the pork chop is thawed, the meat will become very soggy and have no flavors.

Freezing Raw Pork Chops
Step 1: Bagging
Once the pork chop is cut, place each cut of the meat in an aluminum foil. Wrap the foil around once or twice.
For added protection, especially if youre going to store them for longer than a month, you can wrap them in a cling wrapper.
Its best to wrap each cut separately, so itll be easier for you to remove them from the freezer.
Step 2: Storage Container
Place each cut into a freezer bag. You can add a couple of pork chops into a bag.
Once placed in the bag, squeeze the bag to remove any excess air from it. The less the air is in the bag, the less likely the pork chop will suffer freezer burn.
Step 3: Label and Freezing
Using a marker, write down the date of freezing on the freezer bag. Then place the pork chop into the freezer. Its best to place them at the back of the freezer, where its less likely to be affected by fluctuations in temperature.
Is It Safe To Thaw Pork On The Counter

Whether the pork chop is cooked or raw, you should never thaw it on the counter. Defrosting pork at room temperature could potentially cause contamination of bacteria.
Bacteria thrive well in warm temperatures, and the countertop makes it an excellent place for that.
Therefore, its best to thaw pork chop in the fridge to prevent bacteria from growing.

Can You Freeze Cooked Stuffed Pork Chops
Stuffed pork chops are great for the freezer. If you have stuffed them with veggies, rice, or other delicious ingredients, they can make an easy meal that includes everything in one dish.
Freezing stuffed pork chops is best done by wrapping the pork chop in heavy-duty foil.
If you want to store multiple stuffed pork chops together, wrap each one individually in foil then put them in a freezer-safe Ziploc bag or container, making sure to press any extra air out before you put it in the freezer.
Reheating In The Oven
This is the best method of reheating cooked steaks. Doing so will maintain a juicy steak since its reheated slowly.
Preheat the oven to 275° and place a wire rack over a large baking paper. Cooking the steak on the wire rack allows the hot air to circulate around the entire steak.
Place the cooked steak on top of the wire rack and leave it in the oven for about 20-30 minutes. Using a thermometer, check the internal of the steak until its about 110°.
Next, heat the skillet on the stovetop at high heat. Pour about a tablespoon of olive oil into the skillet.
Then transfer the steak from the oven to the skillet. Sear the cooked steak on each side for about a minute. After a minute, flip the steak on the other side. Keep flipping your steak if you prefer a more done steak.

Freeze Drying Mistakes #8 Freeze Drying Fruit With Tough Skins Whole
For fruits with tough skins like grapes, cranberries, cherry tomatoes and blueberries, extra minutes of prep time will save hours of freeze drying time.
Grapes are typically sliced in half lengthwise . We prep cherry tomatoes the same way.
For blueberries and cranberries, I freeze them on a baking sheet before freeze drying, and then give them a very brief spin in a food processor.
The goal is to nick the skins ever so slightly so water can escape, while leaving the fruit intact. I’ve also seen folks poke holes in individual berries, but the pre-freeze method is much faster.

Freeze Drying Mistakes #7 Expecting Quick Drying In Hot Weather
Just like your air conditioning, your freeze dryer has to to work harder the hotter it gets. Higher temps add hours to the drying time sometimes many, many hours.
Our unit is in our attached garage, which is insulated but not air conditioned.
When the heat and humidity go up , I take a break from freeze drying. If you live in an area where it’s almost always hot and/or humid, I’d put the freeze dryer in an air conditioned space.
Also, don’t operate the unit below freezing. You will very likely have water within the compressor but below zero it can freeze and destroy your compressor.
How Long Does Freeze
If the meat is freeze-dried correctly, and properly stored in a mylar bag with an oxygen absorber , then it can last up to 25 years depending on the cut of meat, fat content, and other factors.
An open package of meat can last up to 6 to 12 months if it is properly stored. After opening the bag, it is exposed to oxygen and moisture in the air. So, it is important to lock out the moisture by placing a fresh oxygen absorber into the bag or the container that youve used and resealing it.
Weve tested steaks at 6-month intervals, and theyve kept fresh for more than 2 years. Our ground beef and ground turkey experiments are still fresh and edible almost 3 years into it.
Pro tip: if you remove more fat, then the meat will keep longer once freeze-dried. Cooking the meat and removing even more fat will again lengthen the shelf-life of the meat.

Trim The Meat To Remove Excess Fat And All Bone
Trim and cut the meat that is going to be freeze-dried. Fat shortens the length of time that foods can be stored once freeze-dried. The fattier the meat, the faster the freeze-dried food goes rotten or rancid. Cut out all the visible fat youre comfortable removing.
Furthermore, bone wont freeze-dry, so youll need to remove any bone attached to the cut, too.

- Brushing the steaks with olive oil helps the seasoning to stick evenly! It also helps the steaks to brown evenly while in the oven! I especially recommend this if your pork steaks look a little lean. It will help to seal in the juices!
- You can also grill these incredible pork steaks for an extra tasty twist! You can use any grill here: gas, charcoal, or pellet! Just make sure you start with a clean, oiled grill thats preheated to a medium heat. For the best results, make sure the pork chops have come to room temperature before grilling! Freeze Drying Mistakes #10 Filling The Freeze Dryer Too Full
The Harvest Right Freeze Dryer works by pulling water out fo the food and having that water freeze on the inside of the vacuum chamber, forming a layer of ice.
Too much food = too much ice = machine that can’t finish the drying cycle.
I haven’t run into this, but others who have say that they needed to empty the unit, place the food in a freezer, defrost the unit, and start the cycle again. Big hassle. Load the unit right the first time and save yourself some trouble.
Freeze dry no more than 10 pounds in at one time for the mid-sized unit 6 pounds is a better limit for high moisture foods.
