What To Know About Cooking
One of the big issues Emily and I ran into with Kansas City Steak Company was the cooking process. They give you a booklet that has all of the information needed to make everything from cooking your steaks to heating up the premade dishes.
When we went to cook the steak, we followed the directions outlined in the booklet since we wanted to make sure we were doing everything correctly so they would come out as delicious as possible.
Unfortunately, the was that the booklet lays out the steps, you have to jump between different pages for different steps. For example, on page 10 it tells us the partial instructions for cooking the steak on a skillet. Then you have to jump to page 12 to see how long you need to cook the steak. But on page 12, they have different cooking instructions at the top of the page.
But the most irritating part was that some of the steps dont have spacing between the words. I found it to be pretty tough to actually follow the directions properly because of this.
How Long To Marinade
As little as 20 to 30 minutes will transfer lots of taste to your steaks. I like to get a few hours if I have time. Please refrigerate for food safety.
Up to 8 hours is fine, and some recommend up to 24 hours. But due to the lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce with vinegar, it can affect the texture if marinaded for over 8 hours.

Filet Mignon Pastry Bites
These are one of the foods you can see us make and taste test in our video review above. For being frozen, these came out delicious. The pastry still had a light crispy and flakey texture, which surprised me for something that was frozen and simply reheated in the oven. The inside filet was juicy and savory. Its definitely something I would order again, especially as an appetizer to be passed out at a party or family get together.

Cooking Strip Steak In The Oven
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet to medium-high heat with one tablespoon of olive oil.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the steaks. Add the steaks to the pan, and sear on each side for 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer the skillet to the middle rack in the oven. Cook for 4-7 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness.
- Remove the skillet from the oven, and transfer steaks to a clean plate. Tent the plate with foil, and rest for 5-10 minutes.

How Much Does Butcherbox Vs Omaha Steaks Cost
Since there are so many options with Omaha Steaks and ButcherBox is sold differently its hard to directly compare, but Omaha Steaks is actually not that much cheaper
- Omaha Steak price varies, but a steak sampler is priced at or up to $50 more for nine pounds of steak
Of course, since ButcherBox includes some cheaper meat, its not a direct comparison, but when you factor in shipping across the board, minus sales, you may not save much with Omaha Steaks vs ButcherBox. ButcherBox seems to me to be the better deal.

We tried the Sirloin and the Porterhouse steaks. The flavor was excellent on both but they we so very thin. It was extremely difficult to barbeque them a true medium rare to rare. We did notify them of this issue. We are extremely pleased with their response. They explained why the steaks were cut that way.
